Excellent response by Brash on Facebook. Very well reasoned posts entirely  wasted on the  resident Google experts who are in no way swayed by anything not sourced from QAnon

sample ignorance:
QuoteOf the 45,000 + deaths in the UK, 400 have been of people who are below 45-years of age. Did we really need to trash the economy?

The change in the proportion of 'over 45s' since 1911 shows this attitude would consign a lot of 'old people' to an early grave.

Brash as in former "Independent" clownciller with a twitter feed rammed with recent retweets of anything supporting labour and BLM?

Wait own goal incoming

Back of the net...if you hand hung around a while longer rather than naffing off with your horlicks and pile cream to resume your education via Youtube you would have seen some interesting responses including from Kate E:

Interesting read - the definition of an expert appears somewhat flexible.Maybe you are not the only one running code on zx spectrums and Vic 20s? Maybe he's compiling his Cobol/Fortran via paper tape on a mainframe to be sure his forecasts are right?

Saw it but if you don't mind I will stick to the likes of 'New Scientist' which every week has a number of articles on the subject and Medical Journals which can be read online.
The Economist is fairly balanced as well and you can check it out here:

The attacks on Ferguson are mainly  the conspiracy theory mob ranting and  using him as a club to attack ALL doctors and experts. Facebook crackpots and David Icke  followers who would be hard pressed to find their ar*se with both hands and  under the delusion that their 'right to  have an opinion' means  you have to read their opinion and then act upon it.

I have a couple of 48k ZX Spectrums and  about a dozen microdrives but I got rid of the ZX 81. Hower I have a 16k expansion pack for the ZX 81 if you are looking for a spare. I also have a Vic 20 stored away and a box full of Commondore 64 software, cartridges and dongles.  I also have one of the original Atari 2600 'Woody' consoles and around 100 game  cartridges . Still have cartridges for the Mattel Intellivision but no console unfortunately.
In the early 1980s I was able (via my contacts)  to 'crack' the anti-copy software on Spectrum games without the need to use LERM.  I could copy Manic Miner/Jet Set Willy on a standard double-deck recorder. I still have an unopened box of Tandy 20 min Cassette tapes.  Most of Hartlepool used to get stuff from me.  Happy days...........

Contrary to the opinion of  Google experts it would appear face-masks do have an effect.
Here are 2  links.
The first is the conclusion in plain english

https://www.navytimes.com/news/your-navy/2020/06/09/cdc-study-lower-covid-19-infection-rate-for-tr-sailors-who-wore-face-coverings-and-social-distanced/

The second is the study with all the tables and graphs.

https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/69/wr/mm6923e4.htm#F1_down

I am sure there will be those who will claim it is  Soros-financed propaganda  but as  Boris so succinctly put it

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49SRf86obWI

Note to said nutcase anti-vaxer/flat Earth  conspiracy loons-the report does not say a mask can prevent infection but that it can reduce the risk of infection.

The point being?

Other than an opportunity to remind us your read some really boring sh**e publications and harvest links....

Masks are required by law now in UK, they do not have to be justified.

What's your next target? Seat belts? Crash Helmets....smoke detectors?

Piles obviously playing up keeping you away from the keyboard and from denying you wish to do away with the police?

Time to flash up Evernote.........

There was a Traveller Wedding recently where they decided they would not bother with masks and all the other stuff.
Result?

"Masks are required by law now in UK, they do not have to be justified."

i think face coverings are not masks

"According to the government, face coverings should cover the mouth and nose and can be as simple as a scarf or bandana that securely fits around the side of the face without having to be held in place."

A councillor is an elected representative of their ward, not their political party!
Councils need communities but communities don't need councils
Party politics have no place in local goverment

Good point Kev and coincidentally just been on an offshore course where they issued Snoods ( god knows where the names come from.)

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-8193223/The-snood-mask-infection.html

They advised they treated with anti viral chemicals. I have to say it was even more uncomfortable than a mask and very hot but did job.

I'm not convinced anti virals have any effect and had concerns about inhaling the chemical.

I think the purpose of masks etc is prevent particles EXPELLED from flowing around.

I was on a flight to Europe yesterday (to then self isolate in a hotel and covid test before joining a ship)- so much for social distancing. Full flight as normal and they were telling us to social distance 1.5 meters ...difficult when rammed into seats side by side.

Everyone had to wear a face covering. Many wearing them over mouth only and not nose- pointless. Then they do cabin service so all the donkeys pull their masks down to ne their free early morning booze and 2 day old micro sarnies.

As air travel starts ramping up we face a second wave because a load of idiots want to ram into planes sweat to death for a week then share whatever infections you have picked up with people who try to follow guidelines.

I think a lot of people need to realise this disease kills quickly and if you survive has possibly long term effects. There are certain measures at a personal level we can take......travel and tourism is going to change dramatically.
