The long-term plan for the Waterfront and the surrounding area is to develop a major visitor attraction, hotel and leisure facilities on some five acres of land which incorporates the site of the now demolished Jacksons Landing shopping complex.

The partnership between the Council and the National Museum aims to create a mix of civic, cultural, and leisure attractions to complement existing restaurants, cafes and bars across the wider marina area, securing some £30m of investment....................

This is exactly  the same  type of pipe dream/plan we got from Labour on a regular basis and they were crucified for it .  Now it is 'Great News' and everyone is saying what clever people The  IU,   UKIP MkII    The Brexit Party are for dusting off an old   'Masterplan' they  found in CABs Office.

Personally I would be more impressed if 'the Council' did more about the basics like get us some decent bus/transport-links to the rest of the area. They could smuggle it in under the claim it was to 'attract more tourists' and that will  keep everyone happy!

How many of these daft projects does this town need....?
Like you say, the local transport links are dire and the bus service a shadow of it's pre privatisation days. The withdrawal of bus service subsidies by the get along gang was the final nail in the coffin.
What can be asserted without proof,
can be dismissed without proof.

Maybe they should wear those t shirts that you see in the markets in Thailand, with the slogan 'Same same...but different'.  Just about sums it up!
