Funny how everything has settled into a state of suspended animation on the Councillor front. One good thing though is no more daily pics and photo opportunities for the unlamented Dear Leader gurning into the camera with his motley crew accompanying him.
What can be asserted without proof,
can be dismissed without proof.

Mr & Mr must be away on their Jolly's, but the 1st council meeting is on the 20th so they will be in attendance. I would think.......I wonder if the seating arrangements will be returned to the civilised set up pre-toys out of the pram episode and will public questions be allowed in the coming months ?

Inspector Knacker

I expect them to turn up with their ragged retinue and swagger in like the conquering  heroes 'home from the wars'..... and then the grim reality can hit home. Not so much the Dear Leader, more the humble clerk knowing his place.
What can be asserted without proof,
can be dismissed without proof.

Mr & Mr must be away on their Jolly's,
There is an obsequious message from Beck on SABs Facebook page that says they are away on holiday.
Things appear to be getting back to normal because Hartlepool's very own  morning DJ

All quiet on the western front the main reason is the good people on this board who has tried to rid of the bent councillors has been kicked in the bollocks by the now Shane shame on you, hope you also get what you deserve.

Things may be quiet at the moment ... but could it be the lull before the storm?

We (the voters) gave the last regime 6 years, the 1st council meeting of the new regime is this Thursday, we have between now and next May to see if there will be changes to the way the council is run.

For me the problem will be if nothing changes come May who do we then trust to run the council, do we then return to a labour leadership ?....What I seen so far from the Pixies doesn't exactly fill me with any enthusiasm for that.

I'll be there on Thursday but I'm not holding my breath.  The last meeting of the Constitution Committee was early March, with some of the recommendations being proposed at the Council Meeting on Thursday.  If you thought Public Questioning was being brought back, think again.  One of the proposals is around Public Questioning but it puts a further constraint on the range of questions being allowed, with new categories of "Out of Order, Illegal, Irregular or Improper" qeustions not being allowed - what exactly does Out of Order mean?

With all the things that are wrong in Hartlepool, I would like to have seen our Shane Moore call a meeting of the Constitution Committee early in his tenure to try to put right the wrongs - maybe he could reply to this post to explain why he hasn't?

A truly open, honest, and accountable councillor should be wide open to any questions posed by members of the electorate.

I'd be highly surprised if you saw shame Moore back on this forum ever again.

I'm open to changing my current opinion of him if he has the balls to come back here and address the numerous questions regarding his recent hypocritical political actions.

Can't see it happening though...
I believe everything and nothing

JeffH...... I believe another review of the constitution can't take place until September time, there has to be 6 months between meetings I may be wrong on that however, from what can gather a form of public questions will be re-introduced possibly a question and 1 supplementary.

F&P today voted to pass the recommendation of repairs to Christ Church, an estimate of £245k was the figure mentioned, the work is obviously of a specialised nature, it will go before full council and if passed the contract will go out to tender.

Evening Jeff,

The changes to the constitution that will be brought to full council tomorrow were changes that went through the committee prior to the elections.

The changes we wish to make and you want to see will be brought to either the 8th of July or 2nd of September meeting of constitution committee. The past month has been incredibly busy with a steep learning curve so I'd rather be honest and say that we may be pushing it to get all of the changes ready in time for the deadline for July's meeting so the main bulk may end up coming in September.

diSme, I've been a member of this forum for longer than most and have no intention of leaving anytime soon. I speak with contributors to this forum on a regular basis on the phone or in person. I'm rather approachable so if I don't get to people on here as quickly as I'd like you can always give me a call, email me, attend any of my ward surgeries or even attend any of the weekly leaders surgeries I have pencilled in every Monday afternoon (apparently these have always been a thing but never really advertised?)  Same offer goes to stokoe and anyone else.

Shane - many thanks for the response - what are the changes you are wanting to make?

It certainly wasn't all quiet on the Western Front this evening.......In all the years of attending council meetings I have never seen such blatant mischief making Paddy Brown and Co tried repeatedly to force through the motion that Carl Richardson forgot to submit in time.

They voted for constitutional changes in March 2019 and tonight they wanted to set aside that vote to allow them to bring forward the motion that had been denied, after half a dozen or more 'points of order' made by Paddy Brown and Carl Richardson the meeting was adjourned for a period to allow officers to refer to the constitution.

The upshot of that was the motion was denied...... All the political posturing and mock outrage by the various pixies achieved was to make themselves look like complete Jeremy Hunts, I have no doubt there will be no cooperation from the pixies and we can expect another 10 months of petty and disruptive political chicanery........

stumped

Was this the motion to bring in more transparency to our council?

I'm all for that and I think a lot of members of the post are as well. I don't understand why it's a win that it didn't go through?

I think the push tonight will of been because the council will not meet until September
