Perhaps CAB  was conceited enough to believe he could recruit enough people to Socialist Labour and along with the usual conservative coalition and a few sympathic Independents keep himself as leader at the head of a new cabal.

Whatever it was it was  a monumental miscalculation. Almost overnight the 'SCAB Autocracy' began to unravel. I know CAB is not as tenth as clever as he thinks he is  but even he must have known what canvasing for Barclay would mean. Methinks SAB simply was too stupid to realise the repercussions and never bothered telling the half of the marriage that had the brain cell what he was 'popping out' for.
SAB then thought he would execute another of their trademark 'masterplans' and ride the anti-establishment wave. He defaulted straight to  the usual (for this pair)  victim card and I half expected him to announce that whilst he was waiting for  surgery he would campaign as a Jewish Gender-Fluid Homosexual gilets jaunes.  When Cranney, Mammy Belcher and Father Jack were wiped out they were genuinely shocked. They really did think they would win and it would be 'business as normal'. The latest tranche of defections to the looney SLP are final acts of desperation to avoid them all being publicly deselected and booted out of Labour. Now they can pretend they resigned on a matter of priciple.
They are history and all they are going to do in their final months is confirm they are a pack of moronic
