From 6th April, 2018 maximum basic State Pension rises to £6,549.40 per annum

Current HBC Councillors allowance £7,792.00 per annum

That comparison certainly puts councillors allowances into perspective, when the chair of a committee gets double and the leader quadruple that figure you can see why they are so desperate to keep that income stream.

One thing is for certain, the £3 Corbynites won't shift the SCABal that easy.

Fred - I already had these figures from when the Hartlepool Labour & Conservative Councillors awarded themselves a 31% pay rise (let's start spelling it out to maximise search engine recovery)

The basic rate for each councillor is £7,792 per annum. In addition to that each Committee chair receives an additional £7,792 per annum with the exception of Finance & Policy (£23,376) and Licensing (£4,675.20).  A councillor can only receive 1 SRA (Special Responsibility Allowance)

The total income for those councillors who hold committee chairs are -
Beck - Chairman of the Council - £15,584
CAB - Finance & Policy - £31,168
Clarke - Child Services - £15,584
Cranney - Regeneration Services - £15,584
Cook - Planning - £15,584
Hunter - Neighbourhood Services - £15,584
Loynes - Licensing - £12,467.20
Martin-Wells - Audit & Governance - £15,584
Thomas - Adult Services - £15,584

Note the Lab/Tor dominance and to get the maximum financial benefit nobody is chairing more than one committee

How many of those have a day job ?
I don't believe it.

We are talking about complex multi million pound budgets, yet how many are qualified to chair a committee?
What can be asserted without proof,
can be dismissed without proof.

Don't forget the outside bodies that they can get paid for e.g. Fire Service has three from Hartlepool - Cook, James and Martin-Wells. James is/was also on Housing Hartlepool Board and a waste company though not sure what the remuneration package is, if any.

There used to be a scramble for the Police but they no longer pay so left to the juniors.

Thanks Jeffh...... It's information that really hits home when defenders of the Red Flag try and defend the indefensible....... I'm sure it will be copied and pasted on social media......

When i was on Fire we got nothing but since the Fire officers awarded themselves huge rises they had to give councillors about £3000 a year to keep them sweet.
