Title: Blast from the past.
Post by: Inspector Knacker on August 01, 2021, 02: PM
Going through some folders in a sort out yesterday I found some paperwork referring to Cleveland County Council during the early 80's and their unilateral declaration to our Cold War opponents that Cleveland was a nuclear free zone and street signs were duly put up declaring their intention . Doubtless this naivety touched the Warsaw Pact's heart, as if!
Anyway I have in my possession a rather sarcastic drawing of a nuclear wasteland with blackened zombies staggering around and in the midst of this nuclear winter is half of a semi in perfect condition with the man of the house smoking his pipe and cutting the grass in his thriving garden while his wife prunes  the roses...a single shaft of sunlight shines on his idyllic garden and on his picket fence is a Cleveland nuclear free zone sticker.
Did they actually waste money on this stuff. Sadly, yes they did.

Many years ago I was pals with the deputy CEO of a large nuclear fuel organisation ... the catch phrase used was 'would you buy a used atom bomb from this man'?
