The UK Racist?

Surely not..........

Men aged 18 to 34 from ethnic minority groups were twice as likely to be fined for breaching lockdown coronavirus laws as young white men, figures show.

A National Police Chiefs' Council report said overall those from minority ethnic groups were 1.6 times more likely to be fined than white people.

Government statisticians analysed 17,039 fixed penalty notices imposed from March to May in England and Wales.

NPCC chairman Martin Hewitt said it was "a concern to see disparity".

But he said it was a "complex picture" and each force will work to "mitigate any risks of bias - conscious or unconscious".

Police have been able to issue fines for breaching public health regulations introduced to help prevent the spread of Covid-19 since 27 March.

London

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2020/jun/03/met-police-twice-as-likely-to-fine-black-people-over-lockdown-breaches-research

The Metropolitan police are facing claims of bias after figures showed that officers enforcing the coronavirus lockdown were more than twice as likely to issue fines to black people as to white people.

The Met, which covers London, issued 973 fines between 27 March and 14 May. White people, who make up 59% of London's population, received 444 fines, or 46% of the tota; black people, who make up 12% of London's population, received 253 fines, or 26%. Asian people, who make up 18% of London's population, received 23% of the fines.

Analysis for the Guardian by Dr Krisztián Pósch, a lecturer in crime science at University College London, shows a clear disproportionality.

Posch said: "Compared to their share of the population, people from a black ethnic minority were 2.17 times more likely to receive a fine and Asians around 26% more likely. In comparison, whites were 23% less likely to be fined."

There was also a disproportionality in the number of arrests made for alleged breaches of Covid-19 lockdown rules. White people were under-represented, making up 38% of arrests, while black people were over-represented, making up 31% of arrests.

Data released under Freedom of Information shows that 22 per cent of fixed penalty notices (FPNs) handed out by North Yorkshire Police were given to people from BAME backgrounds (Black, Asian and minority ethnic) up to May 11, indicating a "clear bias" particularly towards young Asian males.

The county saw the highest number of fines handed out outside London for people caught breaching lockdown rules up to May 25, according to the National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC)..................................North Yorkshire's Police and Crime Commissioner said the figures showed a "clear bias" towards specifically young Asian men, adding that police forces were "rightly reflecting" on possible areas of institutional racism in light of recent Black Lives Matter protests.

Again- maybe the ratios are as a result of the ratio of offenders?.......I can't see the issue.

Irrespective of race/colour if you don't want a fine don't breach lockdown.

If you do putting other at risk - ie myself and family tough s**t....

End of discussion nobody cares - move on.

I have no doubt that any 12 year old boy would be treated in the same manner and obviously it is because the UK has a far larger number of 12 year old black boys playing with toy guns that 12 year old white boys with toy guns . I mean it stands to reason it has nothing to do with race.

Perhaps we should crack down a bit harder on black boys playing with toy guns and follow the US Police example.

Try and control your racism/sexism - why black boys?

Answer=Yes we should - if someone walks around with what appears to be a gun posing a danger to others and having been told to put arms in air refuses they pay the price.

and Yes that applies to 12 year olds some of whom look and act 20.....they are savvy, streetwise switched on and watch the same crap on YouTube as you do so they know exactly what they are doing= tough.
