Title: Register of Councillors' Interests.
Post by: Lucy Lass-Tick on August 15, 2019, 04: PM
Worth looking at this link shared from our Facebook page (PDF file too large to post directly). The grid showing details of councillors' interests is from page 18 (Appendix A 4.1 onwards).

L L L,   As one (of many) that refuses to sign up to 'Facebook', why do we see more and more on the 'Post', see 'facebook'?
I know, I know, if I had my way we would still be using quill pens.
But on far too many occasions, signing up to a site generally means there will be phone calls/adverts/pestering for months afterwards.
If there is something put on 'facebook' by a 'Post' colleague, why can't it be put on the 'Post' at the same time? Or am I missing something here?
PS. In a previous role, comms were a massive part of our day to day routine, I really don't know how I would manage with the plethora of sites/inputs these days.
I'm getting old. (Still have my own teeth though...and they're SHARP!)   :o

Grim reaper - the reason that the Facebook link was used is that the document is in a PDF form - one which can't (unfortunately) be added to the forum format. I believe that to be because it is too large for the forum to support & I'm not aware of a workaround - the late (and much missed) SteveL's IT skills were much better than mine.

But the good news is that you don't need to sign up to Facebook to look at that version of the Post as its a public group.  Anyone can read it without Facebook membership - same as the forum where only those who want to write comments need an account.

If you go to our front page and click on the tab at the top of the page marked Facebook it will take you directly to the site - no need to sign up/sign into it or anything. Straight to the page.

Hope this clarifies why we sometimes have to do things this way - PS the bit about the teeth has me a bit scared.  :o

Following tonight's meeting of the Audit & Governance Committee:

'Update from Audit & Governance Committee

'The Audit & Governance Committee met today to set up a working group, appoint an Independent chair and look at the scope of the review for an overhaul of the way Hartlepool Borough Council funds organisations with links to councillors.

We are pleased to say that the meeting was well attended by elected members and members of the public alike and a healthy discussion was had around what it was hoped we can achieve from this scrutiny review.

The timeline was agreed however it was made clear that should the review be completed before October/November an extraordinary meeting of full council would be called to present it.

The whole meeting was recorded by HBC and we will share this once it is available so that those who could not attend are able to see and hear what was discussed themselves.'

500K to the Royal Navy Museum (CAB)
325K to Bellevue Community Sports )Kevin Cranney and Alan Clark)
106K to Healthwatch (CAB and Stephen Thomas)

In the past 108K went to Seaton Youth Centre ...no idea what that is.
Over 300K went to Hartlepool Families First.

....money to burn in a town with 9 food banks.

What makes me curious is a lot of these organisations rely on volunteers  which looks a bit like exploitation on the surface when the "management' are salaried.

L L L,   As one (of many) that refuses to sign up to 'Facebook',

Set up a 'new' Email account first.    If you just view and do not post on FB then there is zero chance you will be caught out by their 'fake ID'  police. They may ask you for a face-photo if they get suspicious  so have a face pic of an  old relative handy.    I believe they also ask for your phone number but  you can (if you are that way inclined) purchase a 1 month sim and never use it again after Facebook send you the activation code for membership.
If you do all that you have the satisfaction of knowing you have bug*gered up their crusade to identify and monetise every person on the planet. Be sure to keep a record of 'your' Facebook details because if anything goes wrong you may need to confirm it all to get back in.

Or just click on the Face Book tab on the front page ... no need for complications. Realise that it makes some people a tad nervous as Facebook has some bad press, but it is nothing daunting. 'Tis what people make it - anyway, you don't need an account to view the Post.

You need to join Facebook to read any posts on it.  Log out of your Facebook to see how it works.
You should be nervous of Facebook. They read your messages, access your contacts and   have built a 'secret' world-wide  database about you that connects you to everything you view online  and everyone you ever  interact with.  They use third -party information about your online activity which they then sell to other  people.  You do not need to be a member of Facebook to be on their database or for them to sell your personal details.

Sorry, but public group posts are visible to anyone. Tried and tested by a pal who isn't a member. That's why SteveL asked me to change the settings from 'closed' to public.

The program was first exposed by Bloomberg, which spoke to some contracted employees involved. They told the financial news outlet that they were ordered to transcribe audio recordings but weren't informed where the audio was recorded or how it was obtained. They said the workers heard users' conversations, sometimes including vulgar content, but were not explained the purpose behind the task.
