Title: where is our navy?
Post by: Heknocks68 on December 28, 2018, 11: AM
Recent weeks/months/years have seen increased attempts by illegals (and quite possibly drug runners) trying to infiltrate the country via the channel. Do we no longer have a navy? Years ago they formed an integral part of our armed forces charged with protecting UK borders. Now lets be clear here, the armed forces do tremendous work in at times very challenging circumstances. But surely the powers that be, under a duty of care to the nation are responsible for ensuring our borders are adequately protected even if that means the use of force. Which currently does not appear to be the case. The Australian approach to such matters never seems to be a consideration for our powers that be. Perhaps leaving the eu may see a change. The threat, is not meat with a deterrent. But we are happy to send our navy to places such as the Black Sea to be harassed by the Russians, I dont suggest the Russians are blameless, however their actions represent a deterrent effect.
