I loved the bit that described the job....'resource planning, partnership working and the scrutiny of performance'.....more waffle. So if this grandly named 'Chief of Staff' is doing all this.... what exactly is the equally grandly named Commisionet doing....I think we should be told .
Empire building is a phrase that comes to mind, but with 'rampant' as a prefix !

It should be remembered that "The Chief Of Staff" would also has 12 other staff members to look after, just why14 people are required to basically "Police the Police" is a very expensive mystery to most of us.

Cleveland police is a discredited force & the best & least expensive option would be for it to be disbanded & Hartlepool intergrated into the Durham Police Service, the Smog Monsters can join with North Yorkshre Police.

That would get rid of 1 very expensive police commisioner & 1 equally expensive chief of staff plus 12 further hangers-on, it would also put the noses of several members of "The Mob" out of joint by getting rid of the police committee.

You're correct, Fred. The 80k a year job is to manage 12 people. Interestingly the Hartlepool Mail is the only local paper nit to pick up on the fact that James Wharton, MP for Stockton South, is the only local MP speaking out against this ridiculous job (which could pay for 3 bobbies).
Coppinger has defended the job and refuses to state that he will not employ one of his friends or fellow Labour councillors as he did days after taking up the PCC job.

Doubt it very much, Mallon is so egotistical that he probably wouldn't even stand for parliament unless he could be PM, you've only got to look at how he dresses to see who he models himself after !

But how can anyone justify a salary of 85K for what is basically an office managers job and with 12 staff, not exactly a big office !
