Eh?
Really. Check the situation out before you comment perhaps?

Get it sold?
When there are covenants on it? No chance.

A few pennies? Talk sense man.

Sick of paying out ?
The council sold Tunstall Court about 10 years ago

Cant give it away? They SOLD it ......

PRIVATE property and land, nothing to bring down council tax

ARC86

Well the council should put a CPO on it as it is in a desperate state.. id love to see it restored to its former glory and i can see why people are campaigning to that effect.. but, is it a viable proposition?

it cost the council thousands before there sold it for next to nothing and its still costing the counci now or is it my mistake the police and fire brigade are for free its rat infested and a eye sore to the people who live round there.

Tunstall Court was sold some time ago to a developer who promised to renovate the building and convert it to 'up-market' apartments. It didn't happen' instead the building was left to deteriorate to the point when people started to call for it's demolition. The building comes with a fair bit of land attached to it and economically it would be far more lucrative to the developer to flatten the building and use all of the land for new executive housing.

You don't have to look hard to find other examples of where the same strategy has paid off handsomely.
Diplomacy is the ability to tell someone to go to hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip.

Reply to stevel......I would like to suggest either site you mention for a Travellers site.    Fat chance!!!!!

It would be an act of legalised vandalism if Tunstall Court were to be demolished. I have some sympathy for the nearby residents who are fed up by the lack of progress on its re-development, but it was there when they bought their houses.
It would be interesting to hear what the Conservative councillors for Rural West are doing about the situation.

Ray Wells is shouting the loudest about wanting to knock it down. Which I agree would be a disgrace. It should have been rennovated years ago.

ALSO:
It has absolutely no direct relevance to Tunstall Court, but in 2006 Judge Anthony Russell QC described George H Ruttle, Managing Director of the company that has owned Tunstall Court for the last 5 years or more as:
"... A greedy and ruthless businessman with no moral scruples"
He also accused him of: "Putting up a smoke screen and doing everything possible to evade responsibility."
He was personally fined £178,000 and his one of his many companies was fined £175,000 ...

This is what was supposed to happen...

Obviously it hasn't quite worked out like that.

£4 million quid is the asking price to get the land and the building back.

£4 million quid. So what's that?

£1 million quid through the books of MRA in the last 2 years.
£1 million quid borrowed to buy Jacksons Landing.
£500,000 to offset the bedroom tax.
£155,000 to increase council workers pay by 11%
£165,000 to give councillors a 5k ward budget each.
£500,000 to offset council tax supports changes.

Am I nearly at £4 million quid yet?

(Then there's the £32 million of cash reserves the council have squirrled away over the years whilst we've been stung with one of the highest council tax charges in the country).

Didnt the same thing happen with St Francis/English Martyrs lower school, just over the road?
