Title: Horrifying crime statistics.
Post by: Lucy Lass-Tick on July 19, 2018, 03: PM
Interesting article on the BBC news site. The percentage of increased/decreased crimes reported (broken down into several categories) compared to charges brought is chilling reading. There's an option to drill down to force level, so although we can't look at the statistics town by town we can see how Cleveland is doing overall. One surprise is that locally, the drug offences reported/charges brought are both down - something which doesn't match with general perceptions.

Considering there is drug paraphernalia being found all over town, it shows the police have no handle on it.

I agree. Most green spaces are blighted with empty cans and bottles.

The Police's crime make makes interesting reading. Drills down to almost street level & gives an insight into the fluctuating levels of different crimes across months/years.

Dent Street has an alarming number of incidents, 16 in total. If you ever walk along it on a night you will see how bad it is. Mainly single 'problem tenants' that Housing Associations will not touch that now swamp the terraced areas in the town centre. Nearly every  town centre wall has a 'Manor On The Map' tag as those who live up  there much prefer their kids to vandalise the town centre.
