"23rd July – The Council arranges a 'Members' Seminar' (no press or public invited) at which those Councillors who could attend were urged by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to 'accept in principle' a proposal which would see the Fens Estate divided between a new Rural Ward and a new Rossmere Ward"

So, we have a Chief Executive who isn't actually from the town and in all likelihood will 'Do One' when she gets her her lot recommending that Fens needs to be split in half.....would it be within reason to pose the question, what does she actually know about the town that's paying her a fortune to run the council. ?

I would have thought the way the proposed changes should have come about would have been for all ward councillor to attend 3 consultation meeting with their residents, and for them to then put forward the residents views.

The way this has been been presented is very much like CABS decision to ignore residents calls for a referendum on the TVA.....

Appears that this thread has taken somewhat of a bavk seat of late. One would have thought that all the hype and displesure documented on here that this would have been kept to the fore, untill such time as the desired decision making was achieved. If it is allowed by the members to become nothing more than an archived item, then the perception portrayed is one of been forgotten about. If you feel strongly enough that the changes are uneccessary and/or wrong , then strength of public opinon must be kept up untill its desired conclusion. If not, then I for one fear the worst. It is not just about moaning about the proposal but continuing the fight. Keep on at your ward councilors, dont let them forget and think it has all gone away. This site should be up at the front campaining along with its membership.

The extended consultation period has now closed and the date for lobbying councillors/Boundaries Commission is past. Its inevitable that there's a bit of a lull before the next stage in the proceedings; that will happen when the Boundaries Commission has had a chance to look at what's been submitted and crystallise their plans. Believe me, the Post is keeping a keen eye on what's what. We're like an iceberg in that what's visible above the waterline is only a small proportion of what's actually happening.

Thanks for that LE. We finally see what some activists  within the CLP have proposed.

Sadly, despite all of the protestations against other submissions apparently cutting established communities in half and putting them with areas they have zero connection or history with, they seem to have resolved that by splitting other established communities and doing exactly the same as they claim they don't want. Ripping GE polling district out of Jesmond and the rest of Dyke House and plonking it in Headland & Harbour for no reason other than to make up the numbers is a perfect example.
