Interesting one this.

Apparently the Hospital Trust is all set to return Orthopaedics to Hartlepool hospital after admitting to themselves that the transfer of the service to North Tees has been a right c**k-up (though somehow, I doubt this will be the reason eventually given). It seems that not only is North Tees struggling to cope with the extra numbers but the two sets of staff are not 'gelling' as they hoped and have spilt into 'cliques'.(given the circumstances, it was never very likely).

Now comes the politics.

Little meetings in dark rooms mean the Labour Group are aware of this but they're holding the announcement back until nearer the elections when it will be hailed as a huge success story. It's actually bugger all to do with them and far more to do with a Hospital Trust that couldn't plan its way out of a paper bag.
Diplomacy is the ability to tell someone to go to hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip.

Maybe somebody needs to announce it before Labour do.
