Driving up Victoria road on a regular basis I noticed the Labour Party HQ ( ex Golden Tanning) looking rather bereft of occupants. The shutters permanently up, the brand new uncomfortable Union Jack hanging limply on one fixing and looking like some hastily abandoned outpost of empire, contrasting uncomfortably with the beaming Orwellian lite poster of the 'outstanding candidate' smiling benignly at the passing flow of traffic.
The army of volunteers have quickly departed to pastures new with their folders and an encounter with political reality ...... the HQ is all looking rather unloved.
It really is emblematic of the whole Labour campaign, but till they get back on course with the ordinary people's aspirations this will become their new norm, get used to it.

When training years ago, our instructor asked what the biggest engineering file was. We all thought it was the notorious 'Bas**rd' file as we all sniggered, but no he produced from the stores this monster called a 'Dreadnought' a ripper of metal, a remorseless grinder, but nowhere as near as abrasive as Angela.

For a Party of the working class, some Labour MP's do act more like some patronising member of the Victorian landed gentry than 'comrades'.
