Inspector Knacker

I don't buy the concept of specialist trauma units as a new concept, they've always existed.  It was always Midlesbrough General or even Newcastle for the really serious stuff, but Genetal hospitals were there to do what their name suggests, the general everyday things. The high end stuff is only a small percentage of the workload.
We are heading in the direction of super regional hospitals on one hand and cottage hospital levels and treatment in your home extremes at the other. The latter because it's no doubt cheaper and the expensive first option for whose benefit I find hard to define.
I also feel like screaming when I see queues of ambulances at A&E's and people told to use other options instead, but no one ever mentions the closures of A&E's across the country which will inevitably lead to folk turning up at the remaining A&E's and the inevitable congestion. The new super hospitals may be able to cope with the most challenging cases, but are stumped by numbers. We are now in the unique position where the patient has to set off on a grand tour of options before getting treatment. Ridiculous,
What can be asserted without proof,
can be dismissed without proof.
