Interesting story about a guy serving on Hambleton CGG who clearly decided he didn't want anything more to do with it:

"At the end of the meeting, and over the past months, I have not been assured about the matters I had raised, especially in relation to certain cultural and leadership issues, personal concerns raised by senior staff, staff morale survey data, and decisions on salary matters.

"I explained again that my resignation was on the basis that decisions I was being asked to take were in my view not conforming to the principles of Nolan."

Diplomacy is the ability to tell someone to go to hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip.

Similar happened in Spennymoor recently. An independent resigned stating it was impossible to represent local people when the Labour group are clearly serving their own bank accounts. All projects are given to companies which councillors have undeclared interests. Mostly building.
