Finance and Policy meeting this morning and the discussion centres for a while on 'businesses' which habitually go into liquidation and resurface immediately under a different name in the same premises leaving NI, Tax and, more importantly to the council, Business Rates unpaid - something which is becoming far more important after the Government made business rates a local matter.

There was some frustration  over the same 'entrepreneurs' repeating this scam over and over and the hope was to find some way to bring it to a halt - referral to Companies House and seeking disqualification from holding directorships being one option.

There was general agreement that this was the way to go apart from one councillor, sat in the Deputy's Chair, who clearly didn't think it was a good idea at all, almost choking as he tried desperately to think of the reasons why not.

Oh Kevin, you're such a plonker ........
Diplomacy is the ability to tell someone to go to hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip.

Cranney also offered his advice about the importance of companies running their business properly.

Which is a bit like ISIS reminding Syrians about the inportance of obeying speed cameras.
