Rumour has it that Robbie Payne has been  deselected.  Might be nowt in it, but it would not come as a suprise.

Maybe he grew a pair & has decided enuf is enuf....... If he has, he should cross the floor at the extraordinary meeting.......jump before he is pushed.

That would be one in the eye for The Fatboy

Land Phil

I would expect him to end up on a Paul O'Grady show as the stray that nobody will adopt if that happens.

Just a thought as I sit here sipping on a glass of veuve clicquot enjoying an oyster filled croissant (OK it's a ham sandwich and a cup of tea but I too can dream of being a socialist)......

..... anyway, I had a thought that, despite their dithering at the time, CAB appears to have gone ahead and targeted all past Labour cabinet members even though years have now passed.

Not that I'm suggesting that the two ABs are the sort to hold a grudge but they really haven't got over the time when others were making all of the decisions and earning those handy special allowances.

Brash - Gone
Hargreaves - Gone
Hall - About to be usurped by some high-cheek boned lad of foreign heritage
Jackson - deselected and then 're-habilitated' after a visit to room 101
Payne - Now deselected

Diplomacy is the ability to tell someone to go to hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip.

The Great Dictator

I understand Sylvia has ousted him.

£31 a bottle on Amazon - worth considering if you have sorrows to drown and a special allowance to say goodbye to ..... :o

I know Robbie personally and although I have no definate political leanings in either direction. I would categorically state that Robbie does have the best interests of the town at heart and I also know that he has a deep resentment of twit and t*a*.

One man against the mob and not having the nailed on support of other town councillors when it mattered could be his undoing.

I wish Robbie well in the future and hope that he regroups, bides his time and he who laughs last laughs like a laughing policeman :-)

You lie with dogs you get fleas. Perhaps if he grew a pair in his remaining time and joins the opposition rather than doing nothing and bidding his time  until another seat pops up we could all see him in a better light.

If he actually does have the best interests of the town at heart, he should do as Brash & Hargreaves did, cross the chamber & sit with the opposition, that or resign immediatley & fight the seat as an independent.

Just seeing out his time by continuing to follow his present path should not be an option, Brash & Hargreaves did show The Mob up for what they are, will he do the same..... I won`t hold my breath.

When you walk away from the smell and screw up your nose it gives the impression that you are not responsible for it.

Would be a good move for anybody with the brains.

Robbie is one of only 4 Labour councillors to actually talk to me or make eye contact outside of the council chamber.

Seems like a canny enough sort of bloke although I obviously disagree strongly with the idea of the free tourist buses.

Like SteveL said, it seems to be that the Akers-Belchers are attempting to cling on to 'power' by 'eliminating' anyone who might have even the slightest gumption to usurp them.

Obviously Brash and Hargreaves posed the biggest threat initially in that they have brains, so they were the first to go and then the potentially challenging Labour Councillors are being 'picked off' one by one.

I wonder how comfortable a certain councillor who made the 'jumped up benefits clerk' comment is feeling. . .  ::)

The Great Dictator

There is more to this than meets the eye, the word NEPOTISM springs to mind... :-X

"Coun Carl Richardson, chairman of the local Labour group, said: "We have gone through a process after a secret ballot, and through that democratic process the Labour members in Headland and Harbour have chosen Sylvia Tempest as their preferred candidate. Robbie is a good councillor, but this is the choice of the ward members.""

Anyone who knows 'Uncle Joe' Carl will suspect he'll have been behind Robbie's deslection.  Robbie has been a good Councillor for almost 20 years, he works hard and listens to residents problems, he also speaks his mind.  Not  the SCAB's sort of man.

Trouble is Robbie also knows where the bodies are buried.
