Our first annual report is now available. See how Healthwatch Hartlepool has positively impacted on Health Services in the Hartlepool area, ensuring that your voice is always heard.

"Whilst our first year has been extremely succesful, rest assured that, as the voice of the Hartlepool community, our work has only just begun."

Diplomacy is the ability to tell someone to go to hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip.

Rhubarb, rhubarb, rhubarb - see that there's a pretty picture of North Tees, just to remind us of our fate!

Inspector Knacker

I intended  to read it but thought why bother. It'll be the usual self serving c**k crowing cocktail of bulls**t and smug ness.... a tribute to the waffllers' art....... I don't believe anything these people say anymore, so why bother reading more of the same old same old.
What can be asserted without proof,
can be dismissed without proof.

brassed off monkey

I was always taught that "Self Praise is no Recomendation" obviously that doesn`t apply in this case.

£125,000 a year to run, part funded by ratepayers & accountable to no one, i don`t know of a single person who has any idea about about what this organisation does for the people of Hartlepool.

Inspector Knacker

So ...... they're the voice of the community...? So where was the 'voice' when our hospital was being systematically asset stripped till only the shell remains.....?
Some voice eh....?
What can be asserted without proof,
can be dismissed without proof.

DRiddle

Obviously people lead busy lives and I can understand people not wanting to waste precious time reading it.

He is the abridged version:

Overall cost to the tax payer of Hartlepool = £109,751

Amount of which went in wages (a significant amount of which went to two current Labour councillors) = £80,655

What they 'discovered'

People aren't happy that they have to go out of town to go to hospital and it's actually very hard to get to North Tees by public transport.

People living in domiciliary care weren't happy that they were getting their full allocation of time from care services. People weren't happy that their care workers were off sick a lot or that the person dealing with them changed a lot. Communication to families was slow and problematic. Overall though the Healthwatch people concluded.... "a favourable impression was gained of the quality of domiciliary care service delivery in Hartlepool". (This was concluded from 500 surveys, 342 of which were NOT returned).

In addition, the following groups were surveyed and/or invited to discuss their concerns (These groups represent the 'seldom heard' section of society apparently).

    Hartlepool Diabetes Support Group
 Voice For You (Learning Disability)
 Hartlepool Asylum Seekers Support Group
 Wharton Annexe Young Peoples Group
 Stranton Seniors Group
 Breathe With Ease (COPD Support Group)
 Millennium Surgery Patient Panel
 Harbour Women's Refuge
 Hartlepool Deaf Awareness Support Group
 Richard Court Extra Care Housing Residents Group
 Laurel Gardens Extra Care housing Residents Group
 Belle Vue Community Association
 R2B LGBT Support Group
 L-Birds LGBT Support
 Hart Gables Transgender Support Group
 Hartlepool 50+ Forum
 Hartlepool Health and Wellbeing Group

Healthwatch had surveys returned having spoken with all of those groups from ..... 118 people.

The surveys main concerns were around .... transport and communication.

Oh and they gave out 4,000 leaflets, and helped 23 people with complaints. Yes 23!

Without wanting to sound flippant, that's pretty much it.

Abridged, abridged version

£109,751 has 'established' that people are concerned about transport to a hospital 15 miles away that didn't have a direct bus route. They're also concerned about a lack of consistency and staffing pressures in domiciliary care and those from 'seldom heard' groups basically have the same concerns as the rest of society (why wouldn't they?)

My suggestion would be to use the £109,751 to put a bus or buses on from appropriate locations in Hartlepool, direct to North Tees. Get rid of all the people 'talking and surveying' attempting to establish the nature of the 'problem'.

The problem is obvious.

Too many quangos wasting money producing rubbish like this at the expense of the taxpayer.

for fawkes sake

The acid test of all organisations like this is that if they disappeared tomorrow, would anyone notice any difference? If not, then the money would clearly be better spent on something else.

Do they get paid, is it a full time job ?

PostItNote

Yes, full time jobs.

And HVDA get £25,000 office costs by the looks of the report.

This sort of scam can`t be allowed to happen again, can it ?

The Phoenix Centre, Manor Residents, Who Cares N/E... all organisations that had councillors involved in the running of them & all riddled with what can only be described as unethical, not to say illegal management / business practices, it should not be allowed pure & simple.

And remember that Paul Thompson and Pamela Brash will also be there to ensure that the bad management groups were fully trained.... Oh wait a minute, they trained some of them!

Yet another scam!  Saw a pocket of money and made sure it was stitched to his pants, whilst they stitched the people of Hartlepool up.

Pamela and Jonathan playing so hard done by with the labour group but they ensured that they towed the line when it suited and when they were raking in power and pennies!

Every councillor who wants to have a career whereby they will take money from the public purse should hang their hat up, those who don't should hang their head in shame.

CIC does not stand for Councillor Interest Company!

It is a conflict of interest, and our councillors don't even know the register of interests yet!  Shows they have not got the skills to take on the role.
