TSteels

Seems to me that the Maths is more interesting even than you suggest.

Current position

Labour 18 Opposition 14 Vacancy 1

Assume PHF win  the Manor House (big if I know) - 18-15 right

2 Labour councillor cross the floor or lose at the next set of elections - 16-17 to the opposition.

So who are the opposition? Where would the problem of coming together to keep Labour out arise!

3 BLOODY TORIES!!!

very interesting analysis TSteels and on reflection, I think you're probably right. Worth remembering that those 3 reliable tory votes make a difference of 6 when it comes to the vote balance in the council chamber.

At present., you can't really class the 3 Torys as being in opposition - it's more of a coalition.
Diplomacy is the ability to tell someone to go to hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip.

Where are the local Conservatives.. can you imagine what Westminster would be like if these scandals were happening to Labour. Cameron would have already stuck the knife in and twisted it, thus killing of Miliband. I conclude the the Tories in town aren't tories at all they are Blairites too!! Either that or too weak and are colluding with the Labour leadership for favours?

Hartlepudlion

Arc36

I think you answered your own question in your last sentence.

Hartlepudlion it stinks doesnt it.. it would appear that the phrase "were all in it together" is very relevant in Hartlepool today!

Stig of the Seaton Dump

I would argue that it is not Tories we don't have it is Labour socialists ...they are all a muddy colour working on their self interests not the peoples interests.

Any vote is a waste of a vote, giving them the excuse to abuse power in our name.
I don't believe it.

ARC86

Do we think that the majority of Hartlepool are socialists?  Genuine question to which I would answer yes purely on the number of votes for a (so called) left wing Labour Party

Hartlepool has gone for the truncated version - 'We're All In It'

If you walk along the prom from Newburn Bridge to Seaton when a south west wind is blowing, you will be able to Smell what we are in.

The Facebook 'History Of Hartlepool In Images' page has been featuring this building for months. It was put up again yesterday and the posters are very critical of Wells and his  posturing. He is not doing himself any favours with his obsession with getting his picture in the Mail..............

Samples:

As a councillor Ray Wells is invisible, can't remember him doing a ward surgery in Greatham. He is slow to respond to e-mails, he should look at F/B's history of Hartlepool to see how beautiful & grand that building was,and could still be. These people who run this town would sooner we preserved air raid lookout bunkers, than fine historic buildings. Get your act together Mr Wells.

another piece in the on going paper trail of Mr Wells campaigning to demolish this building on behalf of the owners , a councillor who I'm led to believe rarely attends meetings in the Ward he represents . Also actively canvasses people in the Park area to support developments which are going before the planing committee , which he is on . Mr Wells stop trying to make people THINK the residents support you , they DON'T !!! They would like you to resign !!!

I would also make a point that in the minutes of the planing meeting in which Ruttle was given permission to develop this site , Councillor Wells declared a beneficial interest . So if he had an interest then he still has one now !!

The Mail , 19/12/2012 , regarding Ward Jackson Park fountain . Quote
Conservative group leader Ray Wells , who represents Rural West Ward , said renovation of the fountain is long overdue and he was "disappointed " it had taken so long. This is the best bit" I will do my utmost to secure external funding, Ward Jackson Park is enjoyed by people right across town "
This is the same councillor who approaches local residents to support HIS plans to give planing for residential use of the Park lodge , so it can be sold .
Now if that's not a conflict I didn't know what is !
