Can't help but feel for Cleveland Police's new Chief Constable but she must feel like she is trying to fill a bucket with a bloody big hole in it.

Diplomacy is the ability to tell someone to go to hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip.

testing times

When you look back over the recent history of Cleveland Police you see a force with a very crooked culture; rules and even laws are meant for others but internally anything goes. Eventually you arrive at a point when respect for the Police all but disappears which is a very dangerous place to be.

This recent example of the finance officer being allowed to quietly resign is a sign that lessons have not been learnt which seems to be confirmed by the reaction of the Independent Complaints Commission.

Personally, I think Cleveland Police is a dead parrot.

Crazy situation here, spend all that money on a major inquiry, then let the woman retire, no doubt on a stonking pension.

Nice one. £250,000 pay off for the former Chief Executive who was pushed out by Barry Coppinger so that he could slot one of his mates in.
