... according to the Echo today. Newcastle, North Tyneside, South Tyneside, Sunderland, Gateshead, Durham county council and Northumberland countu council are to  combine into one body for stratiegic planning and transport......... we're left in Tees Valley, which in North East terms have much less clout, should we all have formed one body....?

There used to be 1 organisation called One NorthEast which was scrapped by the Government in favour of smaller Local Eneterprise Partnerships (LEPs). Some people criticised One NorthEast for favouring Newcastle/Tyne&Wear and the new arrangement was grabbed with open arms by the Middlesbrough/Stockton cartel and associated Quangos pushing the Tees Valley City Region sh**e......either way, Hartlepool is destined to be on the ar** end of it.

Our main function appears to be to pick up the rubbish of everyone else and dispose of it in land fill sites.

I notice in the latest edition of Hartbeat (soon to be retitled The Akers-Belcher Tribune) that there is a piece on the regeneration of Seaton.

Only in Hartlepool would you get half of the council forking out money to regenerate an area while the other half is busy surrounding it with stinking rubbish.

This article seems to demonstrate quite well how the North East is being buried under a sea of acronyms and Quangos

Diplomacy is the ability to tell someone to go to hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip.

They'll probably extend the Metro all the way down the coast to ....... Blackhall.! Meanwhile we'll be able to get the bus to Thonaby to get the Tees Tram to Middlesbrough, God knows why.
