Nice Mike rides to the rescue to tell those pesky academics that their research indicating the residents are prone to negative emotions, such as depression and anxiety, are more impulsive and more likely to struggle with planning and self motivation is wrong. Well he was hardly likely to agree was he?
He then goes on to state that that it's more likely to be linked to the present state of the economy. Cuts?
Or could it just possibly be down to those who 'run' our town?

Mike has a million opinions and no capacity for action.
He is more of a newspaper commentator than the cyclist.

At least the cyclist generated something to wrap your chips in.
I don't believe it.

This fella was a fairly highly placed union official in the "public sector", so he wouldn't have been on Cherry Bob's, he is now employed in a highly lucrative "public sector" job, so for him to comment on the negativity or lack of it in Hartlepool is a bit rich.

Anyone living in Hartlepool who is on a £75k a year salary is bound to be positive, this is another example of the local Member adopting the attitude of...... I know best, it probably hasn't sunk in with him yet, that when May called a snap election, he won a gold watch.

We all know and have known for 40 years or more that Central Government has neglected Hartlepool, the Northeast and the North as a whole, what he "neglects" to mention is, when Labour were in power and the Prime Minister lived 12 miles up the road and his right hand man was the towns Member...... they did the square root of sweet FA to redress the North / South imbalance.

His weekly mantra is just party sound bites that Labour MP's all over the country will be trotting out....... asking questions in the house that are designed to make the gullible believe he has any influence, unfortunately he actually believes he has. ::)

Spot on Fred c.

I couldn't have put it better.

The Conservatives couldn't care less about us because they haven't won here since the fifties.

Labour ignore us for the opposite reason - they haven't lost here since the fifties.

The only chance for the town is a change of colour. Even a change in the Council would help but a change in the colour of the MP would galvanise interest in the town.

Nice Mike plays it safe every time. He gets a topic no one could possibly argue with, like saying it's bad to to to deep fry puppies and he's against it.
Of course it is, we all agree it's wrong, we're all against it, it's bleedin obvious it's wrong, but it's the easiest thing in the world to be against it, it's a no brainer.
Now, if he was to take a stand on something a bit more politically confrontational against something that was wrong, he might get a more favourable hearing.
However, being in favour of motherhood, apple pie and cute things is sticking with the easy stuff.

Since the 31% councillor pay rise he has been shoulder to shoulder with them on the campaign trail. Those struggling to pay the council tax rise will still vote for him.
I don't believe it.

He could always address Jeremy Corbyn in The House and ask him to eradicate Anti Semitism within the Labour Party and Momentum

The lead article in the Private Eye's Rotten Borough section was about Norfolk County Council Councillors receiving a 'whopping increase in their allowance'. The amount in question was an 11% increase.
We all know a council who can beat that percentage easily.
