I say  Dyke House and not Dyke House Sports and Technology Academy as they never promote the technology angle and now they have dropped the annual sports day.

Lunch reduced to 30 minutes so no time for students to socialise.

I remember an hour at lunch, kicking a football about or some other kids game we played come rain or shine. It appears sport is now for the elected few.

No idea what the back story is, just seems very sad.
I don't believe it.

testing times

I wonder if it's so they can start 30mins later or finish earlier. School times seem to vary so much these days but I agree, 30 mins for lunch seems so short; hardly time to get to the nearest Greggs  ;)

These days you are never more than 50 feet away from a Greggs, so no need for a full hour

School dinners ... ah, the smell of rancid liver, the lure of rubbery mince ...

Don't forget the crumpled oily prunes on a bed of equally oily rice.😱

You are more likely to get a grilled panini these days.

Not being allowed off campus must have also hit the sale of loose cigarettes in the corner shops too.

Anyway, back to my initial point.
Are Academeys just like Universities and just money making machines these days ?
I don't believe it.

Just a poncey exercise in rebranding. New name for those running it too. It's just the top educators massaging their own egos. Let's be honest, 'school' is just so uninspiring as a tltle.
We live in a society where appearance without substance is everything.
The prime example is the ever so humble title 'Town Clerk'. It had to go and was replaced with the much more impressive title of 'Chief Executive'.  Fancy title, fancy reward.
We fall for it everytme.
About ten years ago I got promoted and a new title given to my job. All very impressive. A month later my top boss called me in to tell me there was a terrible problem, the title would have to be downgraded.
I asked if my new salary, hours, holidays in fact everything else, was ok.
She said of course, it's just the title. I informed her she could call me an Admiral in the Chinese Navy as far as I'm concerned as long as the rest is safe. She was bewildered.
