Hartlepool's first couple were on the Grand Central 9.00 train to London. They started off mixed in with the plebs but by the time the train got to Stockton they realised they were  not mixing with important enough   people. They upped sticks (as the Spikey haired one was on crutches) and the big fella led the way banging his suitcase (and gut) into every seat as he waddled sideways down the aisle to 1st Class.
Last I saw of them they were sipping coffe with  little finger extended.
No good being rich if you can't flaunt it.

Hartlepool's first couple were on the 7:10 GC train to London this morning. Having learned their lesson last ime they went straight to 1st Class. Spikey head is still on his crutches.
It seems the Pink Pound is better spent in London. I have a good mind to  continue to London and  have a walk along Old Compton  Street on the night  to see if I can spot them.

Would be interested to know if they are paying for the trip themselves or using the HBC Grand Central passes that are supposedly for 'HBC business trips'.

Why is it a crime to travel first class on the train?

Is there any actual point to this than homophobia?

Is it?
Please quote the relevant statute as I seem to have missed it.
Perhaps another one slipped in 'on the sly' from Brussels?

It gives you a chance to have (another) go at the site.

For the record I used to stay in London once or twice a month  for well over 20 years. I always used a hotel in that area. I chose that area above other areas.  I know it well. If it is homophobic to state that 2 homosexual men would frequent an area know for its vibrant,  friendy and (in the main) gay pubs, shops and meeting places then I confess, I am 'rabidly'  homophobic.

I think the points being made are
1.our esteemed leaders who are happy to run with the spend it local campaign that the Sheffield mail is promoting but spend there money out of town
2. Would true so socialists travel first class
3. Are they abusing the benefits of being a council leader or paying their own way

Noting homophobic in the statements but proves what a chip you have on your shoulder

Knowing how cramped seats are on the train maybe we're being a bit churlish here. The 1st Class seats allow for more leg room and if someone was on crutches I would guess those seats would be far more comfortable.
Diplomacy is the ability to tell someone to go to hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip.

The Great Dictator

1st class is only £30 extra so why not as long as we aren't paying for it..

The coaches used by GC are very roomy. They are not the 'cattle trucks' used by every other  train firm. They are not cramped by any definition.   GC very often run with 2 1st class coaches (one each end of the train)but only one is actually 1st class.  Anyone can use the 1st class coach without the flunkey making and serving your beverage. Only those who are waited on  pay the extra. So it is possible to travel in  '1st class' seats  for the normal fare.

Land Phil

90% of Hartlepool residents can't afford to go to London for a break via any class of ticket as we are not Champagne Socialists.

If they sit in the coconut shy then they have to expect some balls  to be thrown at them.

The old HST's are very roomy, but the newer 180's are awful. GC have 3 of the HST's and 6 180's. I always try and check in advance to travel on the HST's (sad or wot) !!

The Great Dictator

They both work so why not, do the 90% smoke and drink ?
