This has the potential to be a very big scandal indeed. Concerns have been raised before about the block and the ease with which developers work with the local Council. Just Google Grenfell Action Group and click through the pages on their site.

Planning documents have revealed the cladding was added so the tower would be more visually pleasing when seen from the nearby flats in neighbouring affluent suburbs.

Peter Apps, from Inside Housing magazine, investigated a fire five months ago which had similarities to that in the Grenfell Tower block.

He discovered that a London Fire Brigade report concluded "flammable material" on the outside of the block was probably "the most likely cause of the fire".

This report was never published, and Mr Apps said he couldn't understand why.

Why would Corbyn ( insulting description of Corbyn in original post deleted by Mod)get involved  with a fire that is over 4 miles from his constituency?
4 miles is a very long way away so why  start sticking your nose in.
And  why is he worried about a fire in flats that are not even in his Constituency?
Why has a fire in a tower block miles away  got anything to do with his constituency shown below.

Corbyn sank to the lowest of the low trying to score political points before everyone else.It is about timing...and decency....the fire wasn't even out when Jeremy Corbyn was in the media demanding answers.....

There are plenty of instances here where politicians, here and locally, where it is deserved, are called by various names, as are forum members by certain members on a regular basis.

Are you saying you are a moderator here?

I have sought clarification from admin regarding deleted description. I will wait for a response/guidance from them.

Corbyn visited the Police, Firemen and the  homeless survivors today. May  decided she only wanted to speak to the Police and Firemen.

Daily mail screeching headline:

The homes of rich people in Kensington should be SEIZED for Grenfell Tower residents made homeless by fire, says Corbyn

What was actually said:

He suggested that 'requisitioning' vacant properties would be a solution to the shortage of available accommodation for those displaced.
'Properties must be found – requisitioned if necessary – in order to make sure that residents do get rehoused locally,' Mr Corbyn told a meeting of MPs.
'How is it acceptable that in London you have luxury buildings and luxury flats kept empty as land banking for that future while homeless people look for somewhere to live?'

Nothing like pointing out the obvious to try and gain political brownie points.Must be a labour thing...JEREMY did same thing even before the fire was out. A almost intuitive comment from the Hartlepool member of parliament .....note the first readers comment on snail page.

Far more disgusting would have been the deleted comments on this story.

The writer ( Sundeland Echo readerI believe)chose to concentrate on the colour of the victims for some reason. The mail had the decency to remove the filth.
