Anybody watched this morning's show re Jodrell Bank? I find it incredulous that he asked the question "why is it shaped like a satellite dish?"
Incredulous because it came into existence decades before sat dishes and also because of his 'supposed' ignorance. Or his editor believing the viewers didn't know why. Is this patronising by the BBC or is the population so ignorant of such things?

I did see it, yes. He did state before asking "this might sound like a stupid question and I know [female name] is used to these from me, but...". I got the impression he genuinely didn't know the answer and, like many people, imagine telescopes to be long thing things with mirrors.
