Even this blatant slap in the face with a wet cod by the Sheik of Arabique won't stop some dummies from voting Labour. The bloke  must take the people of this town for cretinous dummies if he gets away with getting elected after this. Is he arrogant or stupid, because he can have no idea whatsoever of the feelings this arouses in the town and he obviously sees it as a mere minor matter, so therefore we must see it just like him. Last week Labour's Hartlepool candidate Dr Paul Williams invited Jonathan Ashworth up to complain about a lack of hip operations in the town. While Williams accurately says this is the result of cuts, he failed to tell Ashworth who was responsible for them: Paul Williams himself. In 2013 Dr Williams was a commissioner and co-author of the report that decided services – including critical care – be removed from Hartlepool Hospital. A recommendation that was adopted in full...

Not satisfied with closing down the hospital's critical care unit, Williams also recommended slashing the number of planned operations, including hip replacements, despite admitting his proposals would "worry" local people:

Anyone who has had anything to do with the reduction of services/closure of Hartlepool general hospital doesn't deserve a single vote IMHO....
It amazes me that people can still support such a ridiculous (so far removed from its original political origins) party.
But hey ho this is Hartlepool after all.

Williams has been a busy chap. He's since resigned from Hartlepool & Stockton Health Ltd (see the Companies House link - https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.u...), but it was thought to be somewhat controversial at the time.    'A PRIVATE company with a North-East MP as director will operate a controversial new scheme that forces GPs to submit referrals to a third party for approval, The Northern Echo can reveal.
Labour MP Dr Paul Williams has confirmed that Hartlepool and Stockton Healthcare Ltd (HASH) will be responsible for assessing referrals made by doctors across Darlington and parts of Teesside.
The Stockton South MP recently stepped down as chief executive of HASH but remains director of the company, a co-operative of North-East GPs which he says operates on a not-for-profit basis.
On Monday, he defended his company's involvement with the Clinical Assessment and Peer Review (CASPeR) system, a pilot scheme being rolled out at GP surgeries in Darlington, Stockton and Hartlepool this week.
The politician said HASH was established to provide an alternative to private companies that profit from operating healthcare schemes.
While it is not yet clear how much HASH will be paid to run the service, Dr Williams said the company aimed to reinvest resulting income back into the NHS.
The MP, who was recently elected to the parliamentary health select committee, said: "Rather than get an external company to come in and do this, we wanted to do it ourselves and help our GPs learn from each other.
"My feeling is that if it was going to happen anyway, I'd much rather it was in a supportive way and through local GPs rather than someone from outside coming in."

He's no longer listed as being on Stockton's Tennant Street surgery team. From what I can gather, he's believed to be working as a locum at the urgent care centre in Hartlepool hospital. This (according to the CQC), is run by Hartlepool & Stockton Health Ltd. - the company he resigned from as director ...
