The selection of a North Yorkshire farmer must go down as one of the dumbest selections since records of dumb selections began. Seriously? Labour serve them up with a sitting duck target and the fools are now making the silver tongued cavalier look like a horny handed son of the soil in comparison.
I can only assume the Tories are so convinced the town is so hopelessly Labour dependent and beyond their capabilities to win, they decided so why bother.

The hysterical anti-Labour mob on local social meeja were making a big deal about the Labour candidate not being local. I wondered how they could dare go so far out on a limb when as it was a cert that the Tory candidate would also be from 'out of town
I will now await the avalanche of merde that fell on Labour to be heaped on the Conservatives-unless of course it was all political posturing by two-faced deeply partisan unprincipled hacks who will say or do anything to advance their political views.

I now expect Labour to retain the seat, the Throwback Thursday Crowd will ensure that.
A disjointed politically illiterate selection by the Tories begs the question are they remotely interested in even trying. ...? The other motley crew of independents, odd bod parties and dreamers are just a diversion, I see no third party challenger yet of any consequence and unless they descended from the heavens on a shaft of celestial sunlight they'll just add to the confusion.

Prior to the picking of the  Croydon candidate the papers were full of Conservative spokesman telling you that they thought the election would be 'difficult' and other such cautions. It seems the party does not share the opinion it is going to be an easy win for them. It coincided with the them warning of a national post-Corbyn bounce for Labour. The Conservatives are getting their excuses in early.
No one can predict the result and it will be close. The hysterical anti-Labour mob seem to think its a done deal and they only have to provide an alternative to Labour for their fantasies to be fulfilled. It may or may not be true but the arrogant may come to (yet again) find themselves on the wrong side of history.
Even the bookies are being cautious. If you predict(at every election) Labour will lose Hartlepool and they eventually do it will not be because of your political acumen but on  the stopped clock principle.

Too true mate. We showed Johnny Foreigner who was boss. We demanded our fish back and it was a red-line with absolutely no room for compromise.
We also got rid of those unelected bureaucrats and replaced them with another set of unelected....(you fill in the rest)..........

Unlike many here I did not abandon the campaign against local corruption and become a slavish defender of the council just because the party I support is in power.
