No. it was with reference to this

I think nobody should be allowed to run as an MP for an area unless they have lived there for 5 years and can prove it. That would stop labour parachuting some closet socialist, destined for stardom, into Fantasy Island Hartlepool.

Inspector Knacker

That was the opinion of one person, take it up with them. I don't agree with it by the way, but the main reference was to local government.
What can be asserted without proof,
can be dismissed without proof.

My apologies.

I agree with you BTW that councillors should live in their wards.

So, we agree on everything.

That won't do :-)

Inspector Knacker

Of course we can agree, that's not a problem.

can be dismissed without proof.

Totally disagree with the "shop local" thoughts above.

I'd love to see Hartlepool get a smart, socially aware, hard-working Labour MP and wouldn't be bothered if they came from Mars. There's certainly nobody local with any credentials whatsoever. Unless I'm missing something.

Actually, upon reflection S Dan you have a point, I can't think of anyone locally with the knowledge and "stones" to be a decent MP representing the town at Westminster, so I agree with you.

Councillors should live in the ward they represent- that is just plain common sense- how else would they appreciate the issues being faced by the ward?

As per a previous post basically the council is a case of the lunatics taking over the asylum. For an interim period a firm of lawyers/accountants perhaps should take over and monitor ANY decisions made by these morons. Then again pigs might fly.

I totally agree with the thing about councillors living in their ward. It should be an absolute given.

I wasn't living in Hartlepool at the time but I seem to recall the independent councillor DRiddle said he would only stand in his own ward. He then stood for Hart.

Don't get me wrong, Coun Riddle has done a lot of good work but this act ruins any credibility he may have. IMHO of course.

There could be an added bonus to this approach- did I not read on here that Lying Ste and Cwistopher were getting some place at Wynyard? Amazing how an area can decline........

It was Christopher himself who was walking round telling people of an impending move to Elwick Rise - but there would be a delay.  As of yet, it hasn't happened, so whether some grand plan fell through, I wouldn't know. Stephen's mother's move to a brand new bungalow, from her tied house in Linton Court has always interested me more. We were told that it was 'a simple exchange' but an exchange with who? A brand new bungalow has no tenant to exchange with and how exactly do you exchange a house which goes with your job?

According to his Appointments to Outside Organisations, Stephen sits on the board of Housing Hartlepool.
Diplomacy is the ability to tell someone to go to hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip.

The main reason I stood in Hart was because many residents of that ward asked me to. The meeting at Hart Village hall about the gypsy site was the tipping point. It was blindly obvious to the 400+ people present that night that I was telling them the TRUTH, where as various people connected with HBC were blatantly lying to them.

I know that politicians can't help spinning things but this is getting silly.

You said that councillors should stand in the ward they live in. I agree. But them you didn't. Do as I say not as I do. Just plain wrong.

I had friends at that Hart Village meeting. As they tell it, you just told people what they wanted to hear. You were ahead of Donald Trump.

FWIW I think you've done a lot of good in council but gave the good grace to admit when you've been duplicitous.
