Title: Council Tax.

Over the last 10 years has anyone any idea how much council tax has been wrote off.

I don't think it's very high. I can remember seeing figures for a couple of years ago which claimed it was less than 0.1% of the total and mainly due to people who had passed away. The national figure is about 0.3% so HBC does better than the average.

Hartlepool have a good collection record about 98% whereas others i know of have as low as 92%. Local authorities are keen to collect
the tax because they keep it whereas business rates are handed back to the government.
