Title: Annual Council Meeting
Post by: jeffh on May 21, 2019, 10: AM
Tonight's Annual Council Meeting is open to the public - I've just rung the council to confirm.

The only reason I'm mentioning this is a request for this information was posted a while agao, but I never saw a reply - sorry if I missed it.

Should imagine so, but I wouldn't go to the expense of a Five Guys Banana & Salted Camarel retailing at £5.25 - better the McDonalds Meal Deal option

So the Hartlepoool Independent Union/Tory coalition have just voted for SAB to chair regeneration.

In doing so they've betrayed everything that many people have been working for for a number of years.

I'll give it a year before Labour are back in full control.

I hope it was worth it Shane.

Principles mean nothing when power is at stake.
Did the Tories keep control of planning?
Anyone still believe  there will be investigations into past misdeeds?
The new lot are exactly the same as those they replaced.

So David Riddle I assume from this that the Independents who succeeded you and for whom  I voted  in Hart have voted for one of the Akers Belchers.
This is not what I expected or voted for.
I hope they enjoy their last year in the limelight because they have utterly failed their supporters.

Having witnessed the voting for chairs - this is day one of the Labour come back.  Labour have been frozen out by HUI but giving CAB the chair of Regeneration.  They also voted against Black for chair of Audit and Governance.
Labour can now sit back and watch it all turn to rat s••t and make a come back next year.
I really don't know where our new Leader is coming from.

I really don't know where our new Leader is coming from.

They will defend it by saying it is a  fair allocation of Chairs given the numbers. Past behaviour is not taken into account because they have taken a principled stand that they must be fair to all. It is the most stunningly insane fcuk-up I have ever seen from otherwise intelligent people. All hope has now evaporated. We had a week of believing things had changed but now its back to reality.
What a group of spineless  XXXXX we elected.

The reasons why this has happened will come out in time. They always do.

Very short term thinking from Shane. In 12 months (especially if Brexit goes through before then) Labour will sweep the board in wards HIU have footholds in.

I just hope the candidates Labour put up against them are decent people.

I can see it opening the doors for Ben Houchen to place who he wants in the town.

What an absolute joke.

A publican looking after licensing.
Duplicate accounts Hall doing what !
Puppet Young pleasing the planning applicants best friend.

...and the town being driven forward by a convicted drunk driver.

You couldn't make it up.

The Hartlepool Independent Union have just deleted their entire Facebook Page. The same  IU that was all for open debate and listening to the public. What a bunch of yellow-bellied two-faced lying tw*atts they turned out to be.

Back up, spoke too soon but I bet they did delete it but then realised how bad it looked so put it back up. All it means is we have a council full of lying dirty dogs. Shane has proved he is no better than The SCABs. We also have to put up with the turd Brash shouting 'I told you so' on every single local Facebook page.
It appears Shane and Wells have kissed and made up and now are working together. I hope all those who voted independent are prepared for the lurch to the far-right. Perhaps we can expect a visit from Tommy Knobinson and Sargon. I will have to stock up on milkshakes but mine will be frozen solid for a knockout blow!

I wonder if Shane will bother to return to this forum to give us his perspective on this evening's turn of events..... Because at the moment, he very much does look like a lying, two-faced scumbag

I can't really say I'm surprised, but it is rather disappointing

Shane could have blocked SAB getting a chair. He chose not to. I suspect it was a deal done via Wells where the SCAB group would not block Shane and the Tories (who are to  all purposes is a wholly owned SCAB subsidiary) taking a disproportionate number of chairs. The SCAB CIC Partner is also well-placed to keep them on the  public funding roundabout. Its all about money(SCABs) and power (Shane).
A harsh lesson for all those who foolishly believed change was in the air.  Paddy and Brash are as pleased as a dog with two tails!

For me the big mistake HIU made last night was in not supporting James Black for chair of Audit & Governance.  A vote for Black signified the willingness to enter into an era of openness and accountability over what has gone before.  Instead they supported a councillor who very rarely speaks at meetings, who, unlike the SCAB Labour councillors could have challenged the what was happening within the Labour group over a councillor who really wanted to, and I really hope still wants to, promote transparency and accountability.  The HIU can't say this was to maintain Political balance as James Black and Ged Hall are both Independents.

Obviously it is still early days but let's see if HIU keep their pre-election promises of Public Questioning etc. - if they don't I suspect they will have a very limited time in power.

As I said earlier supporting CAB in Regeneration was absolute madness - it has already been proved that any association with him is toxic.

Its worse that that. Planning is still in the hands of Ray Wells.

I was amazed to see the change in Cllr Ann Marshall.  I remember; https://www.hartlepoolmail.co.uk/news/cuts-a-councillor-was-very-happy-to-see-1-3659226

Looks like her diet has gone by the same way as as her labour membership.

SAB really needs to get a jacket that fits him, he looks like he's going to burst and the hair dye is so comical.

I know this is all very personal, but what the f##k.

If you contact the council they should be able to provide you with one
