Did anyone else notice the diminishing funding for the Wynyard Hospital in the recent Mail story? The hospital was originally supposed to cost £460m but this dropped to £330m when the plans were downsized due to the funding problem. The Mail article now quotes the cost at £290m - £40m down. At this rate, we may well end up with the health equivalent of Ryan Air where patients supply their own food and pay extra to use the toilet.
Interestingly, Chancellor George Osborne is talking more and more frequently of pension funds funding 'large infrastructure projects' as he's desperate to put more money into the economy without the Government borrowing more - so who knows, Wynyard may yet fall into place.
£290 Million now..................... what will be the total cost on completion ?
The place has already lost 1 floor....... does this lower cost estimate indicate it will end up as a single story "World Class Cottage Hospital"
I suppose it justifies the Trusts propaganda departments cost.
Just spend £290m on the one we have ?
