Probably the lone planning officer left at the council had to fit it in around doing the 3 other jobs they were delegated due to the rest of the staff being laid off to safeguard executive salaries balance recent budget cuts. The guy who works in planning got round to sorting it because they got rid of his school crossing role this week

Just published in the Telegraph (courtesy of the columnist Allison Pearson) - what are the odds about January 5th becoming the next lockdown date? 'Last night, I went to London for dinner. Was I worried about omicron swarming through the capital? No, I was worried about the freedom to make my own risk assessment being taken away. I was worried that my children’s hopeful young adult lives are about to be blighted again after a reader, friendly with the wife of a boffin who sits on Sage, emailed to warn me that lockdown is “pencilled in for January 5”, once we get through “this politically sensitive period”. (How unbearably grim if so.)'

Cheaper council tax, too! I know someone who's moved from a one bedroomed (band A) flat in Hartlepool to a detached, two bedroomed bungalow in the suburbs of Stockton (band C). I'm reliably informed that (with the single person discount) the band A council tax for Hartlepool was c. £87 a month - the band C Stockton one is c. £114! And I've been shown the paperwork, too ...
