It would make an excellent reminder of what the vessels suffered during the evacuation as thanks to it's present condition it does a cracking representation of being dive bombed, machine gunned and shelled. Or as we know it, not maintained.
Drove past today and looks like it could soon be a diving reef.

Big Kev the businessman said it would cost £20k to get a full survey of the vessel......

No mention of the 100's of thousands of pounds required to restore it to pristine condition...... mind you, it would be a real tourist attraction standing on the dockside

Johnny Bongo

How about sailing it out past Longscar rocks, with the Labmob all aboard....Cwissy at the helm...and THEN it being dive bombed, machine gunned and shelled.  That would be a TOP tourist attraction!

Nah, parking charges would put people off.
I don't believe it.

how about getting the pricks that are on community service to work under close supervision
A councillor is an elected representative of their ward, not their political party!
Councils need communities but communities don't need councils
Party politics have no place in local goverment

How much for a full survey of Big Kev?
Regular maintenance saves a fortune long term, but the philosophy seems to be shiney things and promises of jam tomorrow. It's like putting a porcelain vase in the hands of a boystrous chimpanzee temper issues.

Give it to the mayor to mark his achievements instead of a gold medal.
I don't believe it.

lts a sad sight  :'(
years ago they had unemployed people work on them, l know someone who put the windows in it. They were promised a job at the end l think.  l doubt anyone does community service in or around our town. There is plenty they could be doing including this.  :(

He could wear it around his neck. I'd pay to see that.

It's all about pet vanity projects now. Something like the Wingfield Castle don't even register in their fluffy world.
Their priorities do not encompass the mundane things that make a town work, probably too boring, when visions and re-inventing the wheel in their own image are much more important to them, they need a legacy for the bragging rights.
Our road has pot holes so deep there's talk of organising Grand Canyon style helicopter tours. But that's what happens when if those in charge were given a tour of Antarctica, were offered Arctic survival clothing or designer shorts, T shirt and flip flops would choose 'style' over substance every time.
Try getting the simple things roght  instead of posturing and swaggering over the next 'vision'.
