Can someone explain how Hartlepool Magistrate court is marked for closure yet Peterlee is not...? Not that I have anything against Peterlee Magistrates!

Peterlee is in Durham whereas Hartlepool is set to become a suburb of Middlesbrough and therefore any kind of service in Hartlepool is destined to be centralised in the heart of our great city .

The good news is you are not so much losing all the facilities Hartlepool but gaining ones in Tees Valley.

Disturbing how over the past few years Hartleool as a town has been systematically asset  stripped of all those thngs that a town values, the basic facilities. Now we've been told by the snake oil salesmen in suits how shutting things down and makng things much less accessible is actually better ...for who?
Thse who had the power to step in, appeared to stand on the sidelines and watch.
What's next to go......? They'll probably move the lifeboat to Stockton and despite being 15 miles from the sea and the crew in Hartlepool tell us it  provides a much improved service.

I believe the SCAB-Wells vision saw Hartlepool's future at Wynyard. The plan was to shift the focus  of the town  south by building a corridor to Teesside via Wynyard. The well-heeled  who would never dream of living in Hartlepool would be drawn to Wynyard with a corresponding increase in Council Tax Revenue. It goes without saying the movers & shakers would all be in and around Wynyard whilst the rest of us would be cast adrift to fend for ourselves and they all lived right next door to the new Hospital. Didn't quite work out did it and as they had no 'Plan B' we are now  ALL up Merde Creek

Let's face it.....as the 'assets' are stripped from Hartlepool, there'll be nothing of 'real' value left to steal! So the Police will have fewer incidents to attend (if there's little monetary value, they'll not bother!) and there'll be less people going to court!  Therefore, it makes sense  ??? to close the court with the least attendance.  Simples!!!
Hartlepool people will be expected to sort out their own problems without the aid of the police, etc!

Hartlepool Police numbers have been reduced in order to provide more cover in Stockton. It is already  happening.
The  sting is in the tail of all these closures. Yes it will be  more of a chore to attend court but by and large most people don't give a flying feck about that. The real tragedy for Hartlepool is all the middle class jobs that end up being transferred to Teesside. More money leaving the town.

Whats needed in Policing in Cleveland is for "The Police" to sort out Cleveland Police......... The list of dodgy dealings, prosecutions, mismanagement, tribunals & sackings in a small force should have the Home Secretary making serious inquiries into the way the force is being run.

BTW.....does anyone know what The Police & Crime Commisioner actually does to earn his mega wages, it certainly isn`t controlling Cleveland Police management activities.
