'Our Friends the Conservatives'

This one is set to haunt Stalinist Carl.

The meeting on the 16th was preluded by several mini-speeches from councillors all about how awful it was going to be under the terrible Tories, including one from Cllr Richardson himself. Not withstanding, within minutes he was talking about 'our friends the Conservatives', a reference to Mr Martin-Wells together with Hinge and Brackett - even Richardson it seems has given up on any plausible linkage between the local and national Tories.

Wells has once again been given the Chair of Audit and Governance, the committee that is supposed to keep an eye on the ruling group to make sure everything is done above board - another piece of the jigsaw which is gradually turning Hartlepool Borough Council into a one-party, dictatorship.

Wells' compliance has been rewarded again with all three Tory councillors being given a place on what is now a totally discredited, 11 man Planning Committee (including the puppet-like Morris as Vice Chair). This degree of influence on the Planning Committee is the sole reason Wells, who describes himself these days as a property developer, yet whose register of interests remains totally blank, ever wanted to be a councillor. Several failed legitimate businesses have forced the Poison Dwarf to find an alternative route to prosperity.

Has anyone been keeping a count of the number of planning applications granted in Rural West lately, not to mentioned his failed little 3-card trick with the King Oswy pub?

Sooner or later, it will all end in tears for the Poison Dwarf.

It made me laugh last night when Carl denied saying the "our friends the Conservatives" line.

Paul Thompson was just repeatedly saying to him "it's on tape Carl, there's a video".

Although I suppose as we've seen with the outgoing mayor, even when things are caught on tape, with crystal clear audio and high resolution visual clarity . . . People still deny saying the things they've said.

Crazy times.
