In his column for the Mail. Mike Hill with the words 'MP for Hartlepool' presumably so we know who he is. He'd been watching a documentary about North Tees on his telly and people from Hartlepool would have been among those waiting for treatment and how 'we were conned into relinquishing our own A&E from Hartlepool Hospital'. He goes on about 8 years of cuts, no surprise there.
(When hospital A&E departments close,  patients have to go to another hospital which logically becomes even busier. The closure of our hospital services began under a Labour government backed by a Labour council and MP. Didn't he know that?)
Inexplicably,  in the middle of his column he switches to Pools plight, which is what his column was going to be about.( He was there.)
He then returns to the NHS and linked it with Pools plight,  'I hope that deal can be rescued. The club really is as intrinsic to our town as the hospital at Holdforth Road is.'
Is history being re- written here?

More likely duff editing by the Mail ... two columns merged into one.

But will he fight to re-open our A & E?  There's more chance of me winning the Euro lottery!

Perhaps he needs reminding that Stephen Akers Belcher is the one who signed off on the closure plans?

All his own work apparently, this time the Mail is innocent.

Did he mention the new 'thirteen' housing estate which will be built so close to the hospital and hospice that it will stop any future development of either.

Apparently at least one councillor is on the board of Thirteen.
I don't believe it.

fight  ;D
couldn't  fight sleep  :o
A councillor is an elected representative of their ward, not their political party!
Councils need communities but communities don't need councils
Party politics have no place in local goverment

I was told that the A&E in Hartlepool will never come back because it does not have the necessary support departments to allow it to function, there is more to it than the A&E area and staff, but worse that there is now an Urgent Care Unit at North Tees Hospital.

Its odds on that the A&E at North Tees is going the way of the Dodo. That leaves the people of Hartlepool with even further to go to see a Doctor in an emergency.

The A19 has not been fit for purpose for 20 years and the South bound road is a car park from 7:30 to 09:00hrs.

How many more will shuffle off their mortal coil in the back of an ambulance trying to get to Marton? If we had a decent journalist in the town I am sure they could find out and make it known how many have ended their days in that fashion. The extra time it will take to cover the extra miles to make it to James Cook will contribute to the demise of those who might have made it to North Tees, but will run out of time thanks to the extra travel time needed.

Current board members. https://www.thirteengroup.co.uk/page/board-directors

Regarding one of the above, Brian Dinsdale -  'He is currently Chair of the North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust. Brian is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy and Bachelor of Arts'.

Chair of the NTH Trust is Paul Garvin, not Brian Dinsdale.  He is a non- executive director and deputy chairman.  His declaration of interests will no doubt be accessible on the Trust website.

Apologies - you're right. Looks like the Thirteen web site was incorrect & Garvin is the head honcho. The North Tees & Hartlepool Foundation trust web site states 'Brian Dinsdale - OBE, Non-executive director/deputy chairman. Appointed 30 November 2007, Deputy Chairman from 9 March 2010. Term of office as NED until 30 November 2017.'

If Hill is hoping to come on talking about things like this he should read into the history of the subject beforehand.
What can be asserted without proof,

Mike Hill is very good at saying what sounds good to the voters, ie picking worthy topics that are currently in the public eye, its a labour thing its called a bandwagon in the real world.  Most people do not know much more than him so he gets away with talking a lot of waffle but really saying absolutely noting at all

Stig of the Seaton Dump

I wrote to him on a number of subjects such as the cutting of the hospital shuttle bus service and he never responded once.

Waste of space and par for the course in Hartlepool.
I don't believe it.

When it closes, we'll all be expected to go through to James Cook, if you have a car that is.
However, what we'll get is daily tales on the media telling us how the hospital is run  off it's feet with patients turning up at A&E and asking them basically not to, visit your local witch if you have to, but avoid A&E. But, people will turn up, because when you get round to closing 2 out of 3 A&E departments, the remaining one will be swamped.
It's basic maths which the suits and the media chose to blatantly ignore. If you live in Hartlepool, such facilities are going to become even more inaccessible.
