"IDEAS are being sought for community projects in Hartlepool which young people who have committed offences in the town can carry out to help make amends.
Hartlepool Council's Youth Offending Service oversees the Reparation Project, which involves young offenders aged between ten and 18 doing a range of supervised unpaid work which benefits either the victims of offences or the wider community.
Leigh Wedge, the Youth Offending Service's Reparation Officer, said: "During the summer months we arrange a lot of work in community areas, such as repainting public seating and removing litter from beaches.
"However, during the winter months these outdoor activities are somewhat limited by bad weather and the dark nights, so we are looking for suitable new projects to undertake over the winter which will benefit the community.
"Previous winter work has included, for example, painting the interiors of community centres, cleaning indoor areas and helping with the preparations for charity events such as setting up stalls.
"The projects give the young people the opportunity to make amends for their offences and to start to make a positive contribution to the community.
"All the young people we work with are fully supervised by our trained Reparation Officers and all risk assessments are undertaken prior to any work being carried out."

For more information, please contact Reparation Officer Leigh Wedge on 01429 284329 or e-mail leigh.wedge@hartlepool.gov.uk"

This sounds a liitle too much like " It gets cold and dark in the winter months so we're looking for indoor work so these offenders don't get cold." There must be thousands of outdoor workers, including council workers, who can find themselves working in less than ideal conditions during the winter months so quite why offenders should be an exception baffles me. There's never any shortage of litter to be picked up around town.
Diplomacy is the ability to tell someone to go to hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip.

Theres also a pressing need to remove the "Dog Faeces" that blights all areas of the town, & in the cold weather it must be easier to pick up.

The North Cemetery 'Hart Lane' could be in line for one of these projects, bottle and cans are all over the place ideal hangout for drug users too.

They would be at home here among the damage and graffiti.

I was walking through there this afternoon a council enforcement officer was advising dog owners to keep their dog on a lead, for additional back up  two P.C.S.O.s were present.

New sign's have been placed at all exit/entrances Please Keep Your Dog on a Lead in this area.Soon to be NO DOG'S ALLOWED.

The Great Dictator

The town is littered with graffiti, dog sh*t and pizza boxes, can they not do that first ??
