I'm starting to get annoyed about the inevitable 'climate change' talk over the recent flooding. You don't need to be that bright to see that a lot of the local flooding is down to blocked drains and the lack of routine maintenance. Every time it rains in any quantity, the north exit to the ASDA car park, for example, floods because the drain is blocked. The same is true of the car park next to Springs and I'm sure there are other areas around town. Eventually they dries out and everyone forgets about it till next time. This sort of maintenance is what we pay council tax for; not to fund stupid and totally pointless 'furniture projects'.
Maintenance appears to be a dirty word these days replaced by 'breakdown and repair.'
