This story
http://www.hartlepoolmail.co.uk/news/crime/former-hartlepool-mail-editor-cleared-of-assault-after-road-argument-1-7290449

got lots of comments yesterday. Today the cleared out most of the 'negative' comments but they also (several times) deleted all links to the Northern Echo version of events. In the end they gave up and simply deleted all comments.

It is hard to believe that both papers are describing the same event.

St Columba's Avenue is in Billingham just off the road where the incident took place. It has  8 houses.

What has the deleted comments on this Mail article got to do with Local Politics Issues and Matters? It seems somebody has an unhealthy obsession with defaming certain individuals who have no right of reply.

Can you point out where someone was defamed?
I made no comment as to the right or wrongs of the incident and nor did anyone else.
I presume your complaint is against the newspaper account.
Perhaps you could tell us which bits you think are wrong?

Do a forum search and you will see the behaviour of the Hartlepool Mail censor  has featured several times.
It is a 'local issue'.

The Great Dictator

I seem to remember before the election blackwood was defaming every candidate but one ?

The poisonous little dwarf has spent the full weekend verbally abusing me surrounded by his acolytes on the Hartlepool Politics group of Facebook.

It seems he can dish it out easily enough but when asked one simple question, explodes into a fit of rage, foaming at the mouth, swearing, threatening to come to my house and threats of legal action.

Taken on bigger (literally) bullies than this excuse of a 'journalist' and walked away on top. So I'm looking forward to his visit.

Some of the comments from said Green party activists on there are very telling too. They paint a lovely picture of the 'caring' and 'progressive' socialist party*.

*see nasty fascists.

Hairy

I'm sure a number here have had the pleasure of Blackwood reeling off his journalistic accomplishments, among them how he "worked" for the Mail on Sunday.

It's a half truth, as confirmed by the Daily Mail's headline which notes the ONE year he was a Mail on Sunday columnist. As such he was employed on a temporary part-time casual basis, NOT as he would have you believe.

And Hello, my first post here, but a long time reader.

It's a pity the judge didn't have access to some of the vile comments Blackwood has made on social media about people he has never met. He would have realised then that he was dealing with a flawed character with real anger management issues. Blackwood has a chip on his shoulder so big that it's a wonder Morton hasn't sponsored Damien Wilson to climb it.

The Great Dictator

I understand all his FB vitreole is already on file in Ladgate lane.

QuoteI understand all his FB vitreole is already on file in Ladgate lane.

I suspect that this is partially why the case got as far as it did.

QuoteIt's a pity the judge didn't have access to some of the vile comments Blackwood has made on social media about people he has never met

That would hardly have been relevant to the case at hand.

Let's examine a key fact here: Mr Blackwood was aquitted by the court.  There was an independent witness to the incident whose version of events differs somewhat from the police and his supposed victim.  That witness made a recorded 999 call that was read out in court.

Therefore, regardless of the low esteem you all hold Mr Blackwood in, he is, in this instance an innocent man.  Live with it.  If you're going to pick it apart and imply that he's in some way guilty then allow him the right to reply (which the Mail have denied him BTW and this was a key reason for them deleting the comments).

Out of curiosity, how many contributors to this page were in the court?

Hairy

But has he been acquitted in the court of social media? No. For all the hatred and vile he has spewed to every one who dares to think differently to him, he's as guilty as sin.

getagrip

Blackwood has some very unpleasant traits. I fail to understand how he has managed to gather such a large following of obsequious Facebook admirers, unless it's people who enjoy seeing other folk being humiliated at his hands. Apparently they need to use the "c" word a  lot to gain the Blackwood seal of approval. A thoroughly unpleasant and nasty man.

It`s a sad fact of life that Bullies come in all shapes & sizes & use various methods to Bully people, be it physical, verbal or written, but 1 thing is for sure, all Bullies eventually get their comeuppance......
