Had that experience when someone was renting, you can only be so tolerant.
If the principle of bringing people into nice areas for them to aspire to their neighbours worked, the streets off Oxford Road would be a garden village. A nice little area trashed over the past 20 years. They move in, the residents move out before they can't sell.

Well he knows how we feel about his 'leadership' then! Only more so.

For me that is further evidence of just how out of touch he is with the people of the town, he isn't "livid" for them, he is livid because it reflects very much on his perception of Hartlepool.

Couldn't we have stopped the programme being made? Couldn't the Council have said no to the production company?

Like most of the Labour Councillors he makes sure he does not live amongst the great unwashed.  They might see Manor as their Heartland but it sure 'aint a place many of them want to live.
That said all the 'problem tenants' have been blacklisted by all the big housing associations so they are now concentrated in the old terraced areas of the town. Private Landlords don't care what they do to their neighbours and if truth be told neither do the Council.

We tend to forget most people in this town have a good life and think the entire town is one big social ghetto, it isn't.
It's a normal town with pockets of social deprivation, like most towns across the country.

That's possibly the most sensible thing posted on this site in a long time  :)

In your opinion........ in my opinion your comment is bollox

Everyone is entitled an opinion even when it's wrong  ;)

The general narrative of this page is to find fault even when there is non to find, it was just nice to see someone not being a dark cloud for once.

The town isn't as bad as this page would have everyone believe, yes it has its deprived areas but also plenty of affluent Areas as well

The council on the other hand .......   >:(

This forum/site isn't here to just whinge and moan, it's here to try and hold people to account, to identify wrong doing, ills and morally wrong behaviour in elected officials and town representatives because there are no other forums or channels for this behaviour to be publicly disclosed. It's what ombudsman's and local newspapers should be doing, where it's not factually accurate is usually disclosed and the thread is closed

Well said & thank you for your understanding of our ethos.

The general narrative of this forum is and always has been to shine a light into the dark corners of local governance and those who administer it.

Pointing out what has transpired locally isn't whingeing, it is merely pointing out to a wider audience the lack of morals, integrity, honesty, transparency and accountability shown by those who are in positions were those those very qualities should be most apparent.

The Sun is running with the recent show and I would not be surprised if the Daily Mail gets in on the act.

'Paddy the can man' is the  town spokesman and all those interviewed/quoted are connected so I am fairly certain one member of a local family set it all up for the Sun.

Oh dear ... not a good combination.

Inspector Knacker

You get the the weary, tired feeling the whole profgramme was being used as a sensationalised way of making a point dwelling on every negative aspect of the town.
These programmes stigmatise the majority of people in the town while these attention seekers enjoy their minute of fame. You can spend millions doing the town up but if the national media is churning out this stuff we're wasting our time.

Retired bricklayer? What on, Hadrian's wall? I only know him as a contributor to traffic congestion with that barrow full of god knows what blocking th3 road.

Hartlepool's own Eco Warrior. The man can recycle anything-provide he can carry it on his cycle!.  He is often paid by a Landlord to move into their property. He looks after the place and he  knows a lot of  'good' tenants so persuades  them to move in  as well.  Landlords really are keen on getting him into one of their houses.

I am still trying to work out who stole Nathan's horse.......................
