Absolutely appalled that the Independents' proposal to be recognised as a group was voted down by full council.  Some of those who voted against the motion included the old UKIP group - disgraceful.

Don't they realise that if they don't unite Labour will still hold a majority in May!!

Good to see that the SCABS are raising their profile - some spectators are losing thygye will to live

The good news is, I have knowledge of CPR and there is also a defibrillator in the lobby of the civic, the bad news was, I didn't have the opportunity to showcase my skills........but only just, several members of the public and a number of councillors almost lost the will to live.

Handsome Ste spoke for what seemed like hours, but he probably managed around 20 minutes, 20 minutes of off the cuff thank you's to the deselected Mammy, Barclay, Katie and the resigning George Morris and Doc Pothole.......he also managed several other already forgotten blatherings.

As for the departing Mayor / Chairman....... within 5 minutes of his opening remarks he was asked to increase his 'volume'........but to be honest that was the least of his problems, his gobbledegook delivery bordered on the farcical...... ''''''''what really made the night was the fact the meeting took the full 2 hours"""""".....I would willingly have given up a couple of finger nails for it to have been the usual 20 minutes.

The UKIP group look like they've formed a wagon train circle and firing on anyone who gets near to them.
What can be asserted without proof,
can be dismissed without proof.

James Black brought forward a number of highly pertinent motions around the towns constitution, very surprised the former HIG didn't offer much support on several of them, 5 of us sitting in the plebs seats could figure out why.... ?

Another example of poor chairmanship was the fact Barclay, (who by the end of the meeting looked as though he was trying to suck moisture out of his socks) gave James Black the hurry up and then  sat back and allowed SAB to blather away for what seemed an eternity........or even longer.

Surely recognising the independents as a group would mean that they are no longer independent? You could suppose that they would discuss which way they would vote as a group and act accordingly, that would make them then a party and not independents.

James Black motion to stop HBC purchasing alcohol for civic events was morphed into the Mayor losing his job (SAB was on fire)  - this then went as far as the CEO making it a motion to vote on - she was reminded that the motion was around not purchasing alcohol - after all they were looking for cost cutting measures.  After much deliberation it was decided that it would go back to committee level - Labour had won as all they wanted was not having to vote on this contentious issue before the local elections as the outcome would have been bad PR for them - if they had supported the motion a vote would have taken place

The Council promote healthy living, if that's the case alcohol should be banned from all Civic events ?
