Title: The face on the beach that wasn't there.
Post by: Inspector Knacker on November 12, 2018, 08: AM
Totally surprised to see the face of Theopolous Jones on Redcar beach. Don't we do local heroes here any more or did the Armistice rememberance sneak up or possibly our complete lack of beaches had a role to play.
I turned up to see the beacon at Seaton, it was no eternal flame being the most charitable way to describe it.

The Seaton Beacon event was Dads Army meets Allo Allo.

Listen carefully I will say this ...oh the microphone is not working.
The singer appeared to sing songs so obscure even she didn't know them.
The beacon was a high tech failure. What was wrong with wood and petrol / firelighters.
At least the person throwing fireworks at it didn't fall off the ladder.

No disrespect meant to those trying to make a dignified acknowledgement to our heroes.

I gather Hartlepool wasn't acceptable for a Hartlepool face by the organisers and Redcar won the bid. Danny Boyle?

Give it 10 years and it'll be called the Tess Valley bombardment.
