Title: It’s arrived.... finally.
Post by: Inspector Knacker on April 10, 2021, 03: PM
So the day dawned and the Labour Party way forward for Hartlepool arrived. My Norwegian Terrier beat me to it and after a savaging it in true Viking nature I recovered most of it from his Viking jaws.
Are we sitting comfortably children then I'll begin......
Uncle Paul was a bit vague on what exactly he was going to achieve, plenty of going to do but never explains how.
Now to cut Citizen Robespierre Mk1 off at the pass, I was the one who pointed out the massive mistake by the Tories of bringing in an outside candidate and still believe it will cost them dear. However Uncle Paul said.....
They've taken Hartlepool for granted by picking a candidate who is out of town, out of touch and has no connection with Hartlepool
Well Paul, do you live in the town? I know you're from the North East ....of Kent (Canterbury). North Yorkshire ain't Hartlepool, but at least I can easily see it from my bedroom window, but no matter how I try I can't see Canterbury Cathedral.

Then there's....
They've had 11 years ( the Tories) in government to show an interest in our town and they've failed
Where do we start, .... if you're going to make statements like that, DO YOUR HOMEWORK!
The Marina development was paid for by the Tories, then we had all those years under Tony and Gordon and even with Mandelson as MP we got nothing. All the latest developments were paid for by the Tories which were splurged by the dear leader on shiny, sparkly vanity projects projects which were so bankrupt on the imagination  side they just ripped out and redid what the Tory TDC in the 90's ... and did it worse.
I like the use of the word 'our', implying you're one of us. If so, how come I've never heard of you till you were parachuted in?

How about.....
Getting together with other local doctors, I 've brought back 24 hour service at the urgent care centre, but we need to do more.
What a pity your then Party predecessors in the Council Chamber couldn't.

Or even.....
I have a record of bringing things back to Hartlepool.
Really, what exactly are they?

The Labour Group Leader says she's backing Dr Paul, it would have been odd if she wasn't.
Who writes these things.....?  when he's describing the town centre as 'vibrant' you really have to wonder how gullible they think the electorate are.

Which leaflet was he reading, Labour or Conservative?

Would that be the Tory TDC that claimed it left a surplus of £16 million when it was closed down  but was then discovered to be at least £23 million in debt (2002 figures) and later £40 million?

err didn't someone say we should emulate the TDC?

I just skimmed through your posting history and found  you had no complaints when 'old' Labour misdeeds are brought and even thanked someone for posting a list of Labour misdeeds.  What exactly is the problem when a Conservative misdeed is aired? Is it not, like the Labour  list ' food for thought?

He never does that. Unless of course it serves his distracting purpose. He jumps about like flea in a kangaroos pouch to whatever suits his needs. There are no reasonable rules of debate, no compromises, just a need to better any opponent and see himself as top dog.

Conservative corruption is always interesting. More so when its supporters are desperate to  cover it up.
Here is the Tory spokesperson giving us the TDC Vision of our future:

http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/whatevers-happened-to-hartlepool-a-new-historic-seaport-a-mall-with-versace-and-armani-a-marina-and-a-museum-designed-by-norman-foster-jonathan-glancey-meets-the-man-with-a-pounds-1bn-plan-for-teesside-1384314.html

We sit outside an 18th century tavern (or what looks like one). 'The tavern didn't exist a day before it opened', says Hall. 'We had a set designer fit it out in less than 24-hours'. Today, it is jammed full. 'It'll be more popular next year when we open the biggest and best bingo hall in the country here.' The quay is expected to attract half-a-million visitors in 1995.

'There's no attraction to match this within miles. You've got York Minster and the Norvik Centre, Durham Cathedral and Beamish Open Air Museum, and that's it. By December we'll have Jackson's Landing, a mall of between 25 and 30 big name designer shops - Armani, Versace, the lot, and eight class restaurants. They'll come from miles away to shop here.'

Will they? Hall cites the example of the designer shopping mall opened recently in Street, Somerset where coachloads of shoppers pile down from Liverpool, Manchester and the West Midlands every day.

'The other dock is the site of the new Imperial War Museum. It's by Sir Norman Foster. We've got him on a design and build contract so we can get it built and fitted out in 52 weeks. We're also building 800 new homes around the new marina. We've sold most of them. You tell me which are council flats and which belong to yachties. You can't, can you? I like to see everyone mixed together, real life coming back to the town.'

Although not quite yet. Towns do not grow or repair themselves quickly. The encouraging sign is that the marina, quay and mall are linked to the town centre, unlike, say, the new marina at Southampton. Duncan Hall and his team are learning from the mistakes of earlier development corporations.

You come out with this chip on shoulder nonsense but tell me what would be there if the Marina hadn't been built, derelict dock land with long tails galore, if that turns you on you have my very deepest sympathy.
Name one similar project a Labour government ever  splashed on Hartlepool.
At the time of the development Cleveland County Council in it's death throes, was in favour of filling the docks in and building social housing as an alternative. I suspect that dovetailed nicely with their vision of Hartlepool as being a dormitory/feeder town for their vision of New York on the Tees at the boro.
I know exactly which option I prefer.

LOL More drivel- Hartlepool is a major export hub for inter array wind farm cables manufactured at JDR- I have loaded vessels and sailed from the port many times over last 10 years barring cables.

Purpose built cable laying vessels - not former colliers.

All those 'docks' apart from one, were timber ponds, not docks. The only dock filled in was the Union Dock, the rest were filled in a long time ago. If you are going to present these picture shows, do some research.

and once gone there is no way any shipping can use the old West Hartlepool Docks ever again. At least it will prevent them moving the  Trincomalee.
As I stated earlier West Hartlepool Docks ceased to have any real purpose when coal lost its crown and the blocking of any sea access for shipping is confirmation 'The Docks' are gone

A) How can you address anyone on an 'undiscovered island'? Surely you mean 'recently discovered'.

B) Would said inhabitants of any such island actually be wearing pants in the first place? I am sure one of the first tasks  of Christian missionaries would be to get everyone start wearing  pants.

West Hartlepool docks died with coal.

Hartlepool docks are thriving and going to get even busier as Dogger Bank wind farm kicks off. All wind farms are interconnected using array cables many of which are manufactured at JDR. Unless a fleet of airships are to be utilised to carry the cables to the site... the cables are loaded on to ships- at Hartlepool docks before being installed on the seabed.

Oddly coal is not involved in the wind farm construction process .....= yet again - although you try to bore people into submission with crap- you are day dreaming about all our yesterdays as opposed to the present and the future.

Bit of a stretch but Able sea port which forms part of Teees and Hartlepool ports is expanding massively exporting Towers, nacelles and blades for wind farms.

Doesn't matter how many images you post going as far back as you like claiming the port has died.

You are wrong.

Hartlepool docks are thriving ........................Doesn't matter how many images you post going as far back as you like claiming the port has died.

You are wrong.

I guess you failed to notice the words I used.
This is very specific:
Quote from: mk1 on April 11, 2021, 05: PM

As I stated earlier West Hartlepool Docks ceased to have any real purpose when coal lost its crown and the blocking of any sea access for shipping is confirmation 'The Docks' are gone
Created  1840s and experied 120 years later.

Not very bright are you?

Perhaps not but I do understand navigation having studied it since I was 16. The Hartlepool as they came be known consisted of Old Hartlepool ( The Headland) and West Hartlepool .

Geographically the only "dock" in Old Hartlepool is the Fish Quay and one side of Victoria Basin. The present docks are located in West Hartlepool oddly West of Old Hartlepool. (West is the opposite to east)

Either way trawling through your somewhat selective " archives" has yet again proved pointless . The Port did not die.

Hope that helps.....stick to the fence and leave marine matters to those who are qualified and know which direction is which  ;)

I never mentioned the 'port' of Hartlepool. I was very careful to use the correct terminology (West Hartlepool Docks)  and any confusion is your own.  I know you were trying to help your Sanchez but you charged at the wrong windmill. Perhaps you thought it was the Middleton windmill?

Here an 1841 map of Hartlepool Docks-no West Hartlepool docks in sight.

I can even give you an early street plan for an East Hartlepool if you want............

Your only purpose is to be an irritant, to suppress debate on any topic and reduce the board to a backwater. This will of course intensify in the lead up to Election Day naturally.
After the great day passes you will await orders from your masters and betters on what to do next.
Don't worry though, you'll have company.

A safe space where you can  tell each other how you won WW2  and saved the cowardly Europeans from the beastly Boche.  A pulpit to preach about an imaginary 4th Reich.
You inhabit an  alternate Trumpian reality and desperately seek the comfort of an echo chamber of like-minded low-educational standard blowhards.

He is correct IMHO.

You do nothing but distract people from potentially helpful, relevant and pertinent conversation.

Nobody can make a comment on here without you jumping on it, attempting to start disagreement, and ultimately swaying the discussion far from it's initial originating intent and purpose.

I know the admin is all for freedom of speech here, and that is a sentiment with which I absolutely agree and support, however I believe that you mk1 actually stifle healthy debate and free speech, with your prolific and mostly irrelevant posts.

I don't care if the board is quiet at times. I'd rather that than have to wade through the senseless drivel you frequently post....

Edit to add - also, I find you rather offensive towards anyone that might dare to think differently to you. "Fruitcakes, loonies, not very bright" to name just a few recent ones.

Can anyone one of those mithering link me to a post of theirs on this forum where they complain about me attacking Labour or a Labour politician?
Even a mild rebuke will do.
Can any of you show this new-found sensitivity is nothing more than partisan posters getting upset when their politics are  being criticised?

In case you have not worked it out yet I think none of the parties/people standing for election can achieve anything other than organising the bin collections and removing dog-dirt. A local MP can do nothing about the problems with Hartlepool so I think they are all wasting their time promising the earth. I think Councillors collecting rubbish is nothing but virtue signalling. It was obvious propaganda when the SCABs did it and its no different today. It is not their job, they can not do it full time so its meaningless.

Oh and it was me who first used the SCAB term.

True when Steve said it back in 2017  and still true today:

Quote from: steveL on March 13, 2017, 08: PM

You don't need to log in, it's not compulsory.

However, well over 50,000 people each month disagree with you. That number is on a par with the people who read The Mail website and on a level that obliterates the visitor numbers to HBC's own web site.

If it's a glowing view of Hartlepool Council that you want then I suggest that you make Hartbeat your bed-time reading. In the Hartbeat world everything is wonderful and golden. Councillors never lie and money is never wasted. Councillors vote in line with what they each actually believe and think and not like sheep brought into line by a snapping sheep dog.

In the Hartbeat world, favoured 'entrepreneurs' don't consist of a mixture of tax evaders, wife-beaters, drug pedlars and cigarette smugglers but of upstanding citizens that councillors are proud to call friends. No councillors would ever think of paying their employees less than the minimum wage or fiddling the books to fund their own lifestyle or even feed the horses.

No one would ever use their position to rehouse family in a brand new bungalow, expect their position to ease them out of speeding fines or pay for the dinner dates with the bit-on-the-side.

It's your choice but as I have said before, The Post is and always was intended to be a counter-balance to Hartbeat. That is its function and purpose. When Hartbeat starts giving a balanced view; so will we.

I'll take you more seriously after you you've written to the people who put Hartbeat together and complained that it should include something negative and self-critical occasionally.

After all, you believe in balance don't you? Or do you prefer just to reside in Heartbeat's land of make-believe?

The crippling, dark-dog negativity sucks the life out of even the most optimistic soul in the town.

No wonder people in the town begin to believe that life is at an end and negativity is standard about anything in the town.

Hartlepool Post is more and more an echo chamber for the dispossessed, the curiously mad and waifs and strays from the negative lives they lead.

Lighten up just a little, NOT everything that people do in the town is for themselves, NOT everything that the council do is for themselves. Even I want to hang myself reading the blackness on here some days.

SHOW SOME positivity sometimes ? It's not too hard and no wonder people turn off politics in the town when they read the tself-serving depression and overwhelming blackness that stands for 'debate' on here

I suspect he would like that scenario. Imagine, he could slap his own back and share fawning posts of mutual admiration for his own genius with himself. No awkward questions, right all the time  (even though he thinks he is now) and no one will ever criticise his Party anymore.
However, being such a 'Contrary Mary'.....he'd quickly end up arguing with his own reflection and to avoid self combusting, end up in monastery weaving baskets, till they'd had enough.

A load of old bollocks- ALL lives matter. Not just black or should I say none white?

Quoteimmigrants

I think you find most people have no issue with LEGAL immigrants.

Illegal Immigrants should be sent home. The difference between refugee seekers and economic migrants needs remembered. The people coming across the channel in small boats have paid a lot of money for the journey.

So to be clear

All lives matter who cares what colour somebody is ? I don't .

Arrive in UK illegaly = detain and repatriate.

If that makes me a fruitcake- fine proud to be a fruitcake

Standback light blue touch paper get ready for national front, skin head, BLM, US Police related videos none of which are relevant to life here in Hartlepool - not that MK0 will allow that to get in the way of his weird view of life in Hartlepool - a place he obviously hates.

He represents that part of the retainer spectrum that believe they have been given divine foresight and know a lot better than the mere plebs, who probably shouldn't have been allowed to vote on the topic in the first place as in his eyes are too thick to understand it(in his ever so humble opinion).
He's part of that new shrill self serving elite, forget the old class system, the landed gentry have been replaced by box bedroom keyboard thumpers who align themselves with what the perceive to be the new social elite and conform to whims of their colourless, bland masters.
