THE next round of Neighbourhood Forum meetings is about to get underway in Hartlepool.

Hartlepool Borough Council has two Neighbourhood Forums - North & Coastal and South & Central.

The North & Coastal Neighbourhood Forum covers the wards of Hart, De Bruce, Jesmond, Headland and Harbour and Seaton, while the South & Central Neighbourhood Forum takes in the wards of Rural West, Manor House, Fens and Rossmere, Foggy Furze, Burn Valley and Victoria.

The meetings are as follows:

South and Central Forum
Wednesday 15th October 2014 at 10am
Committee Room B, Civic Centre

North and Coastal Forum
Wednesday 15th October 2014 at 2pm
Committee Room B, Civic Centre

Members of the public are encouraged to attend.

Items of discussion for both meetings include a presentation about Hartlepool Community Trigger and an update from the Director of Hartlepool Power Station. Both meetings also include a public question time.  Residents can find out about issues affecting their wards and can raise any matters of concern.

Also on the agenda at both meetings will be a report about how the new Housing Strategy for Hartlepool is being developed and consulted on.

In 2003, the Government placed a legal duty on all local authorities to develop housing strategies. The current Strategy expires at the end of March 2015 and it is therefore necessary to prepare a new Strategy incorporating an Action Plan for the next five years.

Are these the Forums were the Chairmen are paid £873 a pop ?

I see no lessons have been leave learned and no efforts made to include the vast majority of the residents who work for a living in the democratic process then.

As a great philosopher once said to CABs claim that the new system of governance is far more democratic; "more democratic my a**e".

Interesting contrast from Stockton Borough Council!

Yes and No.

Classic example of consultation here where SBC organises a 'consultation exercise' about some wrought iron railings they were 'considering' placing around a memorial.

Only trouble is the council had already purchased the railings.

Diplomacy is the ability to tell someone to go to hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip.

That article mentions Ingleby Barwick town council , not Stockton Borough Council... So not the same.

Ingleby Barwicks Town Mayor sounds a bit like the Akers-Belchers though :

QuoteTown council chairman and Ingleby Barwick Mayor Councillor Philip English confirmed the railings had already been purchased but said he felt confident the town would be behind the plans.

well there you go. I never even knew Ingleby Barwick had a council but it's big enough.

What a s**t memorial.
I find it more disrespectful than respectful.
I hate to guess what the railings look like.

What Ingleby Barwick needs is a UKIP MP.Anyone any suggestions?.

If the list on the HTH front page is accurate then there are only twelve possible meetings during October for our busy busy Councilors to attend. So a councilor who goes to them ALL (and that assumes membership of both of the Neighbourhood forums) would be trousering about £50 a meeting, plus Full Council of course but that dosen't even happen every month these days.

If people are unhappy with the new LED street lights, the NF's is the place go to have those concerns registered.

Land Phil

Not the place if you work for a living  :(

Meetings......? ...for who....? As they only appear acessible to the unemployed and retired.
What can be asserted without proof,
can be dismissed without proof.
