Sounds like a good place for a hospital . . .

Legacy of the industrial past ...that argument is rather long in the tooth.

My grandad had a job in the shipyards, the closest I know to industry in Hartlepool.

Hartlepool wasn't the only North East town to have industry either.

In today's Mail Mr. Drummond mews his response to issues regarding ill health and benefit changes -  "I don't know what they expect people to do. I have concerns that people could turn to crime and we could have untold problems in the town."

Well Mr D. - there's a little challenge for you - is it too much to hope that you might be proactive in addressing the issue, 'cos hand-wringing ain't going to achieve much?

The days of going to the Dr and saying "I have a bad back" to be on long term sick to get more dole money are over, I for one am pleased about it.

Some one I know very well has been on the sick for over 10 years, gets looked at and told your fit to work and your disability payments are stopping..

His now working away cable pulling..which I am told is a physically demanding job.

Well you were all told in a message as big as a billboard some years ago it read LABOUR ISN`T WORKING. I guess people didn`t twig on, if the billboard had ( For ) after Isn`t then maybe it`s not a big deal to see the Labour Party is only for the People on Welfare Payments, that is their core voter, that is why they allowed uncontrolled immigration as it is commonly known many immigrants will vote for the labour party and thereby increasing their core vote,  many will be on benefits. Already half of social housing goes to immigrantsbeen on the dole and paid tax on  in this country, one newspaper calls it a scandal, what say you.
Another point I have been told by a friend who lives in Billingham, who has three jobs starting at 6am cleaning in all three jobs, never been on the sick and paid tax. A guy at the end of her street has never in 25+ years had a job has just went to Stockton Council  ( Labour Controlled ) for loan of £800 they said he could not have the £800 but they will give him £600 to be paid back at £5 per week, another Labour voter then, and it`s your money. I bet Immigration and whatever they call this £800 loan scam isn`t on their Manifesto.

Yeah all them bleeding immigrants.
They come over here take all our jobs and then  spend  their life on the dole..........err........I mean..........

By the way do you know the difference between a  loan and  a grant.?

Why bring the lifestyle of the  Royal Family into this?

I think a lot of this is down to sympathetic Doctors who, once a person is past a certain age and is unlikely to get another job, are willing to put people on permanent sick to increase their income - not withstanding the younger lead-swingers.

Like most things in town, the real answer is more jobs. When it's easy to get a job then it's less easy to justify sitting on your ar** at home.

Not forgetting that succesive Governments used the sick 'numbers' to ratchet down the politicaly sensitive unemployment figures-once on the sick you were no longer counted as unemployed.
Todays totals are not quite what they seem. You have to listen carefully to whichever liar politician is speaking to catch the trick.
The phrase used  is  unemployed and in reciept of benefit the important bit is 'in reciept of benefit' because if they included the number of people unemployed but not getting benefit   then at least another 1,000,000 need to go on the totals.

Yup, that's pretty much spot on. It's all spin; no one tells it like it is anymore.

The thing is - why do the spin doctor's spin? If it doesn't work then they wouldn't do it. So it can only be down to the rest of us being so gullible to swallow it.

Well ladies and gentlmen i hear your voice. In the blue corner we have the tory party, a party traditionaly for low taxes, and small government, but percieved as all having money and therefore money, a party that believes should you get up on a morning and go out there whatever the weather, they say we would like you to keep the money you earn, we would take little or no taxes from you, and to help, we would have a small government, in that it would help you to have more disposable income to spend on what you want, our voter wants something better in life and is not AFRAID to work for it.In the red corner we have the Labour party, traditionaly a party of high taxes, and large government, perceived as the party that helps the working man, when in fact it has not done that for at least 30 years, it is in fact a party for the welfare claimant, immigrants on benefits and if you can see beyond the smoke and mirrors,( you may call it spin ) it has done a good job, you have had a Labour controlled council for years and you still can`t see it for what it is. Ok then  the Labour Party is a socialist party, or the peoples party, but it is in reality A COMMUNIST PARTY. Russia is a communist, china communist, north korea communist, the link with all is that all their peoples are PEASANTS,

Help!
My computer has slipped into a time warp  has started picking up old Cold War Propaganda  scare stories  about the Red Menace...has anyone got a link to an online scan that will remove the bug?

PS
When I was last upstairs I noticed Wayne Rooney and a few of his team-mates under my bed!

Ah MK1 if you look you will see my last thread mentioned symbolism, it`s the only way to see through the smoke and mirrors, so i`m sure we are not allowed to ask what party you vote for, i have no oppinions either way, but time warp = denial of Lenin and the goulags he created, Rooney football player, Manchester united, play in red, manager, Alex Ferguson, Scottish, lifelong supporter and cash donator to the Labour party. Hows that then i bet you are a Labour voter or dare i say it a Labour councillor, my guess probably both. Bring back cromwell is what i say.

I've always considered MK1 to be a supporter of the left too. He's no councillor, I know, but definately a Keynesian.
