22 NHS trusts are facing serious financial difficulties because of expensive PFI schemes, with six thought to have taken on projects viewed by ministers as "unsustainable".

The PFI initiatives have proven to be a disaster for the NHS, will Wynyard prove to be any different in its eventual funding process, i doubt it, wherever they get the funds required to build a "World Class Hospital" it will require the loan to be serviced & that money could have paid for a comprehensive upgrade to both Hartlepool & North Tees Hospitals.
The care & wellbeing of the people of Hartlepool & East Durham came very low down on the agenda of the NT& Hartlepool NHS Trust board, & all the platitudes & excuses under the sun wont convince anyone differently.
There is a meeting in the council chamber of the civic this Thursday 10am, with regard to moving even more services from Holdforth Rd to the OLC.... this meeting is open to the public.
Interesting to read in today's online Mail that the Trust (a misnomer if ever one existed) has announced that they are putting a hold on their plans to move services from the hospital to One Life.
we have a perfectly good hospital there it just needs some staff. every room and corridor is in perfect condition and very clean so
why borrow half a billion pounds to build a new one. the underlying reason is to grease the pockets of the landowners and builders so that they will return the favour in hospitality or by funding the political parties in one form or another.
anyone catch Cameron slagging off PFI plans in the Commons today? Not looking good.....
