Utterly pathetic.
Where as other areas are building business parks to attract thousands of high quality jobs, Hartlepool goes for some more crap that will bring nothing sustainable.
While the other authorities are getting big money for business development projects we have Tick and Tock getting peanuts to carry on their self obsessed glorified twee plans. We're like the one legged beggar hobbbling behind the other authorities, doffing our cap and being ever so grateful for their loose change.
They're supposed to be running a town, not taking part in a satellite TV gardening programme. They really are on another planet.
Why the persistence in persuing unrealistic goals of making the town a 'tourism hotspot'? It's just really not sustainable in a town like Hartlepool, and makes no sense....
As others have said, investment would be better spent in providing a quality base in which businesses can thrive, and any touristic ideals should be very much secondary to this.

I don't see a problem with tourism as such. The weather is the same wherever you are, places like theRoyal Navy museum are obvious attractions and I'm always surprised at how visitors see the town, we do tend to be our worst enemies and overdo the low self esteem.
There's food banks everywhere now, nothing new there.h
That said, we suffer from being 'lead' by those who think they're Capabilty Brown, when 'Incapability' may be more appropriate. They love to show off their little garden projects while the others are unveiling business parks and the like.

Basically, they're Goldfish swimming in a bay infested by sharks.
The one glaring example that shows up the figures bandied about in this article are those the council produced for the Tall Ships event, they were over estimated to such an extent they became laughable.
The supposed £30million boost to the local economy never materialised, whilst the estimations of the cost of the event spiraled upwards, no wonder people are cynical when the Mail trots out HBC propaganda.
The Royal Navy museum / historic quay obviously attracts visitors, however to use grossly exaggerated figures to justify yet another 'Vanity Project' that even if completed will bring no real jobs to the town....event spaces are no substitutes for factories or offices, surely CAB and the CEO must realise residents have seen through the bluster and bull they constantly spout forth....The sooner both are gone the better.
